Dawn Richard is leaving the legal drama in the past and redirecting the focus back to her music.

Just a day after the R&B diva learned her civil lawsuit against former label head and Dirty Money collaborator Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs had been dismissed by a federal judge, she took to the Web to unveil her new single ‘Baby, Can We?’ featuring GRAMMY-winning crooner Durand Bernarr.

“Durand is one of the most gifted vocalists and performers of our generation,” Richard said of her duet with Bernarr that’s loaded with interpolations of Aretha Franklin‘s 1972 classic ‘Day Dreaming.’ “I’ve admired his artistry for years. Jessie J continues to keep her fans well-fed with content from her 2025-released critically acclaimed ‘Don’t Tease Me with a Good Time‘ album – her first studio effort in over a decade.

Having already given the single or video treatment to favorites ‘Comes in Waves,’ ‘No Secrets,’ ‘Living My Best Life,’ ‘Believe in Magic,’ ‘H.A.P.P.Y.,’ and ‘I’ll Never Know Why,’ she recently added another visual to the lot: ‘California.’

“I lived in California for 10 years 2014 – 2024, I had some of my best days and my worst days in the time I lived there and thats what this song is about,” she said about her ode to the Golden State. “…I really wanted to shoot a visual for it. Nothing too fancy just me being me in LA in some very LA places, I flew to LA for 48 hours right before my breast cancer surgery in June 2025 and it’s taken a year for me to edit this video…”

The self-directed clip arrives just weeks after Jessie confirmed she is living cancer-free following a highly publicized battle with breast cancer.
