Honest to God y’all…I want to like Monica again and this song, but I cannot. The recorded version has this awkward machine-gun vibrato and awkward pauses throughout, and the live version is no better. I see the effort, but it’s just…no. Not for me I guess.
She sung this in a higher key then she usually does…I liked the notes at the end though…does anyone have her performance from the CBS Early Show yesterday?

Whoa. My boo was pitchy all over the place in this performance! I’m actually shocked cuz when I saw her live she did great. But I guess everyone can’t be perfect all the time. Still lover her! The outfit is a Star Trek mess tho..sometimes I hate whoever dresses her…its jus too odd.

Monica killllllllllllllls it. The dress is amazing but the face and haircut beat it all. It’s funny to me that some don’t like because if rhianna had it on y’all would be going bonkers but watch she’s about to rise back to her sucess of the 90,s and all the huge stars take fashion risk. Granted, she might have been slightly pitchy, but for the most part, she sounded as good as the original version. But you also have to give credit where credit is due – this song is a difficult song to sing, with the various runs, key changes, belts, etc. – not many artists would even be able to pull this off in the studio, much less on stage.
So, stop hating – find something (anything) positive to say about someone doing something positive, and maybe people will stop hating on you!

First of all I loved the performance. Yes it was lil pitchy in the beginnig but towards the middle to end of the song she got it right. Thats a difficult song to sing live tell someone else to sing it with so much soul and conviction and you wont find many! Anyway her dress is fire! If you not in her industry or understand fashion you wouldnt like nor understand it. Keeping Going Monica because what God has for her is for her!

Me personally, i loved the performance. I do think she cracked at maybe 2 spots but other than that she killed. That song is VERY hard to sing in such a high key in one straight shot, but she did that. Give her props!

You know what I have to agree with @Craver! I like the song a little bit because of it’s R&B feel but it’s just something about it, I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s definitely something awkward about the song and the way she sings it! As far as the performance, it was just not good. I love Monica and her CD is FIYAH, but this performance was bad. But I actually like that dress and her hair is on point! Get it Mo!

Great job. The song is my fav cause its real music that radio needs to absorb more of. Congrats Mo on having the #1 R&B song in the country seems like we all love good music. Music like this forces singers to sing . I love monica for the realness and her immense talent. All great singers have their moments when they may not perform at their best. Though the key was raised a step, She did a great job getting through the song. I have seen her rip this song up.
