And furthermore, the album hasn’t been released yet, so how is the audience suppose to sing a long with songs they don’t know the lyrics to. Finally listened to “4” .Honestly She Sounds way better than Lady Gaga,Katy,Rihanna,Britney. This album is R&B at it’s best. So I don’t really expect the pop fans to get it. 4 is better than Born this way,The last mess of an album britney released. Teenage dream,Loud,and countless others. Most of you are hating when the truth is Beyonce sounds way better then the ones I mentioned and her vocals make an crappy song into vocal magic. None of your favorites can sing like her unless it’s old school whitney maybe even old school Mariah. 4 takes her back to her R&B Roots. Thanks to sites like itunes and Amazon, people can finally purchase certain singles or even purchase tracks from albums instead of buying a full-on album.
Since 2005, the music industry has not been the same with the introduction of digital sales. Mariah Carey, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Trey Songz, Britney, Katy Perry, Kesha, Usher, Jennifer Lopez, Jason DeRulo, Wiz Khalifa, Pitbull etc. (the list goes on) would all be lucky to go GOLD these days with their album’s, and that has nothing to do with their work because if anything most of their singles hit the top of the charts and go PLATINUM (or even DOUBLE PLATINUM) which is still an impressive feat to create and still give them relevancy.
Take a second to think about it. If the singles don’t do great how the f*** do you think the album’s will sell (even if it’s not that great)? How will the album have some type of longevity? Britney’s and Chris Breezy’s first-week sales were about the same and you guys were quick to label Britney a flop when Chris Brown has only gone GOLD, and his singles do just as GREAT as her. Trey Songz has yet to have a PLATINUM album, and yet he’s smashing the R&B game and on the Billboard charts and still has GOLD certifications. Mariah Carey’s sales has been less than steller but girl still can reach GOLD, and be certified PLATINUM for her singles. Rihanna has been doing her thang this year and manages to still reach PLATINUM with album, but yet you guys want to call out on her album sale’s when her SINGLES are doing beyond better than what your fave. can do and they give her longevity. Bruno Mars sold only 55,000 in his first week , but yet he finally went PLATINUM thanks to his SINGLES which also gave him longevity.
So what is your point exactly? That album sales are important than single sales now? Girl bye.

Physical album still sale the most, stop making excuses. Mariah’s last album was a christmas album that was certified gold, and it was only out for less than 2 mnths. “Memoirs” went gold because it only had one big hit, and it was more of an conceptual album, but Mariah still can and will sell far more than that. Lots of people buy physical albums.Itunes is big as far as singles are concerned, look how cheap they are. Anybody can purchase a single for $1 and 29 cents.
