Lady GaGa Nominated For GLAAD Award

Published: Thursday 19th Jan 2012 by Sam

It doesn’t matter if you love him or capital H-I-M”

Beyond the lyrics of her global smash ‘Born This Way’, Lady GaGa has campaigned tirelessly for the rights of gay and lesbians the world over. A practice which hasn’t gone unnoticed by GLAAD – who today nominated the superstar in the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards.

Full story after the jump…

The 25 year old is nominated  in the “Most Outstanding Music Artist” category, serving as the only “mainstream” act to nab such an honor.

Controversial in some regards, the singer’s support of the LGBT society has come under heavy scrutiny by some sects of that very community, who charge the star with exploiting them for commercial gain. A debate which’ll no doubt intensify with this latest accolade.

What ever the case, congratulations to GaGa. After all, be it by hook or by crook, she’s brought attention to a worthwhile cause. Surely that’s the most important outcome of the whole shabang?

Tidbit: GLAAD “recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.”

So sad how the Gays are BLIND to the fact she is USING THEM 4 MONEY! Sighs

@ Yellow Gorillah, it’s funny how you gays get mad if your adversaries are neglected by famous artist, and get equally as mad if a famous artist makes massive speeches about human rights.. You just can’t win for losing…. Even if her sales increase due to campaigning for human rights, there’s a positive message going out to the masses twelve times more rapidly than a regular granola eating boring protester… A pop star is kind of like a graphic designer for a message… Get over it..

    @ YELLOW GORILLAH,

I actually agree with you and I’m gay. Maybe she does genuinely want to help certain causes, but she is definitely exploiting the movement as well.

I can respect that she is talented and has accomplished a lot in the short time she has been around, but I can never really support her because she just comes off as a gimmick exploiting blind gay folks looking for someone to idolize/worship.

Oh lord….the “Gaga’s using gays for album sales” arguement again.

I didn’t recall Gaga telling people they should buy her single/album when one of her little monsters killed themselves.

I didn’t recall Gaga talking about her music during any one of her LGBT related speeches.

I know some of y’all think she is “Fake” and “Gimmicky” but I can NOT for the life of me find out how she’s “pandering” to Gays.

Christina Aguilera was also awarded in GLAAD…

@Yellow Gorilla & @Pop Royalty ya’ll seriously need to get the f*** out.

Don’t be pressed and f****** haterous cause Gaga is the best.

I am sorry but that’s just how it is. She sells albums and singles and breaks tour ticket sales records and what!?

Just admit it. Your favs have nothing against her.

Her “flop,” as you guys love to call it, sold more than Rihanna’s and Beyonce’s album. It took Rihanna over 1.5 years to sell 8 million copies of LOUD and this is with HUGE promotion stemming from tours to TV performances. While Born This Way sold 8 million worlwide in 5 months!!! Gaga’s worst is your fav’s BEST. Haha quite sad when you think of it.

Gaga has the 2nd and 3rd best-selling singles of ALL TIME. And Rihanna? Rihanna isn’t even in the top 20 and the b**** is THE singles queen. (“Love The Way You Lie” doesn’t count because that’s Eminem’s song).

Rihanna is a f****** joke. And I love Beyonce but she is a puppet of her management, just like Britney, until she breaks free she has no credibility other than what her voice gives her.

Gaga can sing. Gaga can dance. Gaga can make her own hits. Your favs are basic compared to her.

And I just cannot wait till she releases her new stuff I am more than sure with her label on her to make catchy hits she’s going to come out with another “Poker Face” and/or “Bad Romance” while your favs will still be struggling to sell albums and tickets.

Basic b****** to the left. Cause anyway Gaga gon’ slay cause baby she was born this way.

Congratz Gaga you deserve that award and so much more.

Because even if you were using the gays does it really matter? I mean you PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS.

F****** screaming at the president of the United States to pay attention to the gay community. As I gay I’d happily lick the crack of her v*****. Beautiful b****.

Who else would do anything like that? No one.

Congratz Gaga you have my absolute loyalty I love you and always will. 🙂 (“)(“)

    congrats to her tho!

LMAO! Nobody wants this award. She can have it.

Congrats to Gaga on the nomination, she deserves it and I hope she wins the award. She doesn’t exploit gays, she doesn’t force anyone, gay, straight, or otherwise to buy her music, and she has a lot of gay fans. She made that speech against DADT, just one example of her active work on behalf of the GLBT community, sure not all gays like her – why should they? We all have different tastes and I’ve known plenty of gay men who are more into rock and heavy metal than pop. I thought that dedication she did for poor Jamie who committed s****** was lovely, and she showed genuine emotion – that is the best performance of Hair she has ever done ;o)
