It was boring, uninspired and she does NOT have the power or vocal range to sing the song; She did not do the song justice. Last year she was a stripper/h** and now she’s a saint??? Girl please. LEDISI should have sang her song

    • SURPRISE…….(DEC.13) February 9, 2015

YOU SOUND SO STUPID AND IDIOTIC. I’M SURE YOU DID NOT EVEN GO PURCHASE LEDISI’S LAST ALBUM. B**** BYE!!!!!!

Everytime I try to like beyonce she reminds me that she is still that bratty selfish little girl who must win everything and “appear” better than everybody in order to feel good about herself. Beyonce stealing the shine from another deserving artist?! Oh I’m sooooo SHOCKED!!! Stealing the right to sing a song in front of a live audience when she didn’t have anything to do with the movie or acting role the song is attached to is not beneath beyonce. For she has done way worse! She has stolen the right to perform songs originally created and sung from actual great legends at inaugurations, when those legends were still alive and well *cough “Etta James” cough* This chick has no shame in her game! Now let someone else sing one of her songs live at an event and see how she takes that…. But she won’t because she wouldn’t allow it, unless they were honoring her. Beyonce tries to portray herself as so humble, like she’s some angel but deep down she is a mean girl who can’t let anyone shine over her if she can help it. That’s why a lot of people in the industry don’t like her, but they will NEVER admit it out of fear because they know she is a part of a cult.

      • Braindead Britney February 9, 2015

Stealing who’s shine ? No one was even planning to peform take my hand

      • You tried February 9, 2015

@BrainDeadBritney THANK U! John legend, common and DEFINITELY sorry to say NOT GRAMMYS ! NO ONE WAS GOING TO ASK LEDISI TO PERFORM U TIRED ASS QUEENS THAT FAKE THE FUNK AT CHURCH NEEDS TO CUT IT OUT! THD ONLY SONG YALL KNOW OF LEDISIS IS THE SONG “PRECIOUS LORD” which BY THE WAY ISNT HER SONG! 2015 GRAMMYS IS OVER GIVE IT UP DAMN YALL WILL NEVER EVER EVER GET RID OF BEY AND THIS IS ONLY THE BEGGINING!! Sorry go smother urselves lol DAMN LOL

      • AJ February 9, 2015

@Diamond Princess. At Last was NOT originally created for NOR originally sung by Etta James. It was written by a white guy from Poland in 1941 named Mack Gordon. Etta did the same thing in 1960 that Beyonce did and is still doing; she re-recorded it and made the song accessible to her generation.

Now, the song from Selma IS NOT A LEDISI original nor did Beyonce “steal the right to sing the song in front of a live audience.” You sound very ignorant. We get it that you don’t like Beyonce but to sit on a blog and write a 1-page letter of nonsense is just pathetic. So you now you’re claiming to know a lot of folks in the industry since you stated that they don’t like Beyonce…you are truly dense!

      • fatusankoh February 9, 2015

D M go away we no you have spend all you life long hating on bey have a sit that song was not going to be sing by the the lady you hatters defending that was be idea to Sing it omg you hatters have no life spending all your life hatters on bey than you hatters don’t want no one love and defend her bey is here to stay say God good people and we her fans

    • You tried February 9, 2015

@LISA YOU AND THE OTHER 5PEOPLE THAT ARE SHADING THE PERFORMANCE LOL NEED TO HAVE A SEAT AND WAIT TILL NEXT GRAMMYS CUZ BEY WILL STILL BE ON THAT ONE KILLING IT! So hold ur breathe and drown in all UR hate HUNTY LMAO

      • Diamond Princess February 9, 2015

        @You tried
Instead of reading a book or furthering yall’s own career, the beyhive would rather defend someone else they will never know or be invited to dinner at her home. Beyonce is getting her coins regardless, because she’s made something out of her life but what do ya’ll do? Ya’ll act like you get paid to leave comments, make asinine opinions, and start twitter trends. So PATHETIC! While ya’ll obsess and have aneurysms fighting for your idol she is traveling the world, eating good, and living the rich life. Now marinate on that!

      • You tried February 9, 2015

@DiamondPrincess YOUR GRAMMER SERVES YOU RIGHT! U should pick up a book ASAP whats UR point talking to me about stating Facts ABOUT AN ARTIST! WHO THE GRAMMYS CHOSE AND WILL CONTINUE TO PUT First! HATING ASS C****

      • KnowYourFacts February 9, 2015

@ Diamond Princess It’s funny how you claim the Beyhive needs to pick up a book and further their careers (like you know each and every one of the members in the hive). I for one have been a member since the hive was created back when I was still in high school…Now I’m an attorney, working at a prestigious law firm in Washington D.C….Protecting the laws that govern our nation, while still stanning for the artist I love. Making overly generalized statements like you just did only negates the validity of your claim and your intelligence that much more. Know your facts chick before you type. It’ll save you the embarrassment next time

      • Diamond Princess February 9, 2015

My grammar is just fine, thanks tho! I’m not going to go back and forth with trash like you and the rest of the beyhive! I actually have a LIFE! And I also have common sense to know that arguing with someone over the internet about an artist who doesn’t pay my bills is SIMPLE. I don’t live vicariously through someone else, so I pray for you LOSERS that do.

      • Diamond Princess February 9, 2015

@Knowyourfacts If you do work at a “prestigious” law firm then that’s one firm I would NEVER want representing me lmao!!! But if I had to guess you don’t! Anyone can claim that they have a boss life but they don’t! Give me a link to your LinkedIn page and maybe I’ll reconsider my comment. But the fact of the matter is a lawyer at a prestigious law firm does not have time to comment on blogs, let alone go back and forth on them. So dust yourself off and TRY AGAIN DUMB B****!

      • nations February 9, 2015

@Diamond Princess, i’m an industrial & systems engineer and a member of the beyhive. I doubt you come close to my level of education.

    • fatusankoh February 9, 2015

Lisa you can hate bey all you want she is here to stay say God good people and we her fans you don’t care who sing the song you hatters just have a failld for bey hating thank God you hatters are not God

    • nations February 9, 2015

was ledisi asked to perform the song?

  2. Yolanda Adams February 9, 2015

Gospel is not your thing Bey. I did not enjoy nor was I moved by her performance.

  3. britneyraycarey February 9, 2015

b**** stole this moment from a more talented singer than her. I had to mute her because of all that screeching she did. She deserved to lose AOTY

    • metzo February 9, 2015

Did you say screeching??? You do realize it was NOT Rihanna on that stage performing that gospel song right?

  4. Anna February 9, 2015

There was nothing epic about it. Ledisi (obviously), Jhud, Fantasia, jazmine sullivan would have been better choices. Now they know how to take it HOME!!!

    • SURPRISE…….(DEC.13) February 9, 2015

SO BECAUSE SHE WAS NOT SCREAMING ON TOP OF HER LUNGS LIKE LEDISI WOULD HAVE, THAT MEANS SHE DID NOT DO A GOOD JOB??? GO HAVE SIT, SIR….LOL

      • Ciarastan February 9, 2015

Have you even heard Ledisi’s version? I doubt it because she didn’t scream at all. The song doesn’t require screaming dummy. Ledisi killed it ACAPELLA you mad?

  5. SURPRISE…….(DEC.13) February 9, 2015

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE HER INTERPRETATION OF THE SONG. YOU DO DON’T AVE TO BE SCREAMING ON TOP OF YOUR UTERUS TO HAVE WHAT PEOPLE CALL “SOUL”. SHE DID NOT OVERSING, SHE KNEW WHEN TO HIT THE HIGH NOTE AND WHEN NOT TO.

    • Ciarastan February 9, 2015

You sound stupid there is no screaming in the song. Soul has nothing to do with screaming anyway, it’s a feeling!!! I ain’t feel a damn thing

      • SURPRISE…….(DEC.13) February 9, 2015

I KNOW SCREAMING IS NOT HAVING SOUL, BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE DO THINK THAT. IF U’RE NOT SINGING LOUD, THEY WILL SAY YOU HAVE NO EMOTION. #FACTSONLY

  6. Ciarastan February 9, 2015

I find it hard to believe she’s a christian when she’s married to a non-believer….girl bye that performance stunk!!!

  7. JOHNVIDAL February 9, 2015

Mesmerising??? Ok Sam always talking about any Beyonce showing as if she were Whitney houston or Barbra Streisand in her best days. Just stop it, it´s not happening.

  8. Queenly February 9, 2015

Gospel music is supposed to be a spiritual experience. There should always be a connection when one sings gospel. Beyonce didn’t have that connection imo. She struggled to find her key too. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good either….

  9. Bosslady February 9, 2015

Wait What? she actually rehearsed that GOD awful boring mess…the only they did was raise their arms and they had to rehearse? just wondering…I’m carrying on now

    • blue February 9, 2015

she is a perfectionist, whats wrong with that?

  10. DanYiel Teflon February 9, 2015

She sounded good to me & her HATERS LOVED IT!! I’m reading there post HERE ON TGJ!!

  11. blue February 9, 2015

i find some of bey’s performances atleast live to be more technical than emotional, especially with this song. Its the way she was trained, she cant help it, and there is nothing really wrong with it, she just rather give a vocally on point performance than risk it being imperfectly perfect.

    • metzo February 9, 2015

This is true. Her performances can be too vocally perfect and lack the emotion and genuine-Ness. But this performance was outstanding. And that high vocal register she hit touched the holy ghost in me. I felt it radiating right through my fuckinggg bones. Mama did that!! Y’all just love to criticize her. Everything she ever does is being scrutinized.

But watch this, then you can come back n talk to me.
      -_-

      • Mark111 February 9, 2015

Yes, this was a great one. I also liked her DIL and Listen at the 2004 and 2007 grammys. But she don’t have the voice for a church song. I mean, I’m glad they didn’t bring out J Hud loud @ss, but she would’ve done a better job because with songs like that you have to have power and emotions to grab the audience.

  12. blue February 9, 2015

and usually if you havent heard another artist go in on a song emotionally you wouldnt be able to tell the difference

  13. 7 February 9, 2015

Billboard, RS, Yahoo named Beyonce’s performance the number one best performance of the night.
4,5 s was in the top 10 bests too. Rih did a great Job. And Bey sang her ass off.
I see nothing but Great reviews so far from the critics.

    • blue February 9, 2015

FFS performance was one of the top 4 best performances of the night. #typicalhive
      but you gave props so…

      • 7 February 9, 2015

I was not being blasphemous at all. I actually thought n the whole HIVE on Twitter thought that Rihianna did an awesome job and her vocals were on fleek. Props are given when it’s due. If something slays I’ll say it slays. Period.

    • red wine February 10, 2015

      LIES

  14. Sherry February 9, 2015

Her performance was cool but very forgettable. Like others have said, I wasn’t really moved…..

  15. Hadley February 9, 2015

Beyonce had one of the Top 3 performances of the night along with madonna and gaga and the troll trying to read her can deal. She did great.

  16. metzo February 9, 2015

One of Bey’s best most touching performances, using nothing but her s*** lower register. This is why I’m a Stan! 😀

  17. Mark111 February 9, 2015

Her performance was a snooze fest. Beyonce is a great entertainer, but hervocals only works on HER songs. And even then it’s nothing more than growls, belts and runs. Nothing more, she doesn’t have power, she doesn’t have a falsetto nor full control of her lower register. Pretty much, if she’s nit shaking or stripping, she’s boring. Deal with it.

    • Tyler February 9, 2015

Ummm, Beyonce has great pitch/vocal control. She a good vocal technician period. Your fave couldnt even sing FourFiveSeconds with conviction…so I wouldnt expect you to understand.

      • Mark111 February 9, 2015

Yet her performance was one of the best of the night. You’re mad cause everyone is saying that Beyonce was a snooze fest. So shut your 3rd world @ss up.

      • Tyler February 9, 2015

Yet, according to critics and the rest of GP Beyonce’s performance was better than hers. You’re just mad because Rihanna and her vocally non challenging nursery rhyme got out shined Beyonce the whole night.

  18. Tyler February 9, 2015

She didn’t still a damn thing from Ledisi. At the end of the day, John legend said that it was beyonce’s idea to sing this song as a prelude to Glory, if she hadn’t come up with the idea the song wouldn’t have been sung at the grammy’s at all.

    • Tyler February 9, 2015

      *steal*

    • fatusankoh February 9, 2015

Thank you Tyler we all know that but this hatters will do anything to hate on bey than God they are not God let continue to love and support our bey don’t let this hatters get to us

    • red wine February 10, 2015

LEARN HOW TO SPELL “STEAL” NOT STILL YOU IDIOT

  19. Tyler February 9, 2015

“Soul” is SUBJECTIVE. Technique is not.

  20. Mark111 February 9, 2015

Can we talk about her taking her sister’s wedding pose. Man hooker, can you be original for once?! I guess you can’t think of anything when you can’t think at all. What a freaking robot.

    • Tyler February 9, 2015

Can we talk about Rihanna’s performance? Wait… nobody’s talking about Rihanna’s performance. So I guess not #SnoozeFest.

  21. Tyler February 9, 2015

“she doesn’t have power, she doesn’t have a falsetto nor full control of her lower register.”
No b****, that describes Rihanna singing FourFlopSeconds perfectly.

  22. Stephy. February 9, 2015

she doesn’t have power … Really? Beyonce’s voice is very strong & powerful. Also, resonant. But, he’s the same one that said… “Mariah Carey NEVER could sing live”… So, HIVE ignore him.

    • Tyler February 9, 2015

Thank you! Rihanna has one DECENT vocal performance and he thinks that he can come for actual VOCALIST. Let that boy know.

  23. Black power February 9, 2015

Face it without that wind-blower, body suit & half naked dancers she’s VERRRYYY basic.

    • Bey Advocate February 9, 2015

Watch the 1st half of I am yours in Vegas

  24. JOHNVIDAL February 9, 2015

It was lackluster sorry. Whitney Houston could have done that around 2002. You know what I mean. She doesn´t have it in her to entertain with just her voice, lacks soul, uniqueness,… Something is missing when she does a performance like this one. Just average. Not moving or impressing.
Katy Perry (poor thing is terrible in all fronts) also got her applause at the end of her performance. Means nothing.

  28. Lake Erie February 9, 2015

Damn! Everybody going in on Bey today!! I got satellite radio and it’s been the DISCUSSION on a lot if channels! Lol.

  29. Audi Gray February 9, 2015

Maybe it’s just the church kid in me but I wasn’t impressed by Beyonces performance. I know GOOD gospel singing, and this wasn’t it. She lacked soul and anointing. Ledisi’s rendition gave me chills.

    • red wine February 10, 2015

      #TRUTH

  30. coolness February 9, 2015

I just want an explanation as to WHY she didn’t see it fit to perform one of the songs from her OWN multiple Grammy nominated album. I’m guessing it’s because she pretty much performed the whole album in its entirety at last year’s VMAs. Bey’s vocal aptitude is really amazing (she takes her voice to some really great places). However, the voice itself is not really suited for gospel. People are saying ‘you don’t have to scream to have soul.’ Um, last time I checked, neither Mahalia or Ledisi ‘screamed’ on their renditions of Take My Hand. It’s all about having that special ability to really emotionally connect with a song which I didn’t get from Bey but she’s an amazing talent. Love her always.

  31. red wine February 10, 2015

    lol @ EPIC PERFORMANCE

  32. uc4rihrih February 10, 2015

its so painful to human & God himself listening to beyonce perform that song. beyonce have prove once again that she have no soul which is why she keep stealing peoples song. she is a complete robot no soul or emotion no connection to the song. its funny cos lastyear she was half naked doing p*** & singing about drinking jayz s**** & this year she suddenly wears white & mosquito net singing gospel song. when was the last time beyonce went to church? cos if she does go church she wud seen how gospel song is sang.
