New Song: Taylor Swift – ‘You Need To Calm Down’

After captivating headlines with an epic ode at ‘Wango Tango’ to her LGBT fans to commemorate the kick off of Pride month (click here to watch), Taylor Swift continues to pen love letters to the community with the latest coming courtesy of her new song, ‘You Need To Calm Down.’

A warning shot to ‘haters’ if you will, Swift dedicated the entire second verse to homophobes.

“You just need to take several seats and then try to restore the peace/And control your urges to scream about all the people you hate/‘Cause shade never made anybody less gay,” she sings over the Joel Little-produced beat.

Premiering just hours after unveiling the title and cover art of her 7th studio album, ‘Lover’ (as we reported here), ‘Calm’ comes as the set’s second single and follow-up to the Brendon Urie-assisted ‘Me.’

Let’s hope the kids grow up and realise that they don’t want or need this sound and content from her anymore – I mean – she’s done it to death!!!! Ariana needs to drop another album and f*** things up leave and then come around again ????

I don’t like her Kindergarten music but this one was cute

Instead of calling the album Lover, the album should be name Elementary. The song is cute, if it were written and recorded by a third grader.

And people talk about her song writing skills like she Elton John writing sacrifice? Smh!!! She sings in the exact same style every single song and her lyrics are for kids!! This is a 30 year old woman we’re talking about here.

Thank you ! I swear some of her fans act like her own game crazy with the lyrics like b**** please she ain’t writing nothing extraordinary or well thought out meaningful music. These kids better go listen to real song writers and vocalist. *Goes back listening to Mariah’s Outside and Melt Away

Literally could’ve been on her last two albums and worked nicely…now in 2019, not so much. I feel like this album is more about filling contractual obligations.

And Swifties try to day she’s as good a writer as Mariah! Guuurrrrrrrrlllllll

Truly hope she flops miserably and fades into oblivion. Tired of this white trailer park trash being treated like royalty

She can’t sing – as in vocalist – she’s pretty much a karaoke singer to me. Nothing special about her tone or her range or her technique, it’s flat like a cutting board.

    But she’s a good storyteller.
She knows her lane and there’s nothing wrong with that.

She misses more substance tho, I don’t really follow her career but I can’t name one of her songs that is bold and meaningful.

Spot on , she’s such a good story teller but lacks substance

  13. Lana Del Fan June 14, 2019

Cheesy, but I like the message regardless

    Make Britney Great Again!

This is not a hit. My God gurl, you need some ghost writers cause your songwriting is not up to par. But I see that she is trying to appeal to the mindless teenagers who buy music. Because those of us with sense ain’t buying this trash

she’s pushing 30 and her music still sounds it’s written by a high schooler…
