New Song: Lil Nas X – ‘Panini’ (featuring DaBaby)

Published: Friday 13th Sep 2019 by Rashad

‘Old Town Road’ star Lil Nas X (born Montero Hill) may have seen his follow-up, ‘Panini,’ gallop to a #16 peak on the Hot 100 (to date), but thanks to the enduring success of the former the 20-year-old had to pump the brakes on its promotion.

That all changed with the 2019 MTV VMAs when Hill took to the stage to unveil a futuristic performance, a theme that transcended to the song’s official music video that premiered just two weeks later (click here to watch).  Now, in a bid to pad the positive impact of the visual on the ‘7’ tune’s Hot 100 commercial performance, Hill’s teamed with rapper DaBaby (born Jonathan Kirk) for a remix.  Taking to Twitter to announce, Hill – who’s earned quite the reputation for being an “internet troll” – said the Kirk-assisted revamp would be the first of 25 the tune received over the life cycle of its promotion.

While we await news on if that’s true or not, look inside to hear what the duo cooked up:

The ‘Chowder’-themed music video should boast well with fans of the cartoon.  And, while it’s likely we won’t actually see 25 remixes of ‘Panini,’ we’ll probably hear more than one as multiple remixes of ‘Old Town Road’ are exactly what helped extend its shelf-life atop the Hot 100 to the historic 19 week mark.

If one’s formula for success ain’t broke, why fix it?

Little Nas X is the unproblematic little brother we want to see win. He’s adorable and fun. The same way people live for Tom Holland, I live for him. He is not legendary yet. He may be. Let him have fun! We have a GAY, BLACK RAPPER!!!! He’s only called a troll for clapping back in a clever, witty manner.

You sound like Azaelia Banks with the hate.

I support lil nas, he is a gay king

I’m just pointing out the hypocrisy. People always say Camila cant get a hit without a feature even tho never be the same had no feature and it peaked at number 6 and is 3x platinum

Everybody uses collaborations and remixes to push their singles to the top.
