Rihanna is a mere 23 years-old but quite the accomplished recording artist. Since 2005, Rihanna has released 5 albums and he 6th one is on its way. As Rihanna racks up awards, fans, and the money, she is now going down in history for her musical success.
Rihanna’s single “We Found Love” was released on September 22nd. The song has peaked at the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 making this Rihanna’s eleventh number one record. Legends Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder only had 10 number ones in their careers taking Rihanna one notch above them! Rihanna finds herself tied with Whitney Houston and one below Madonna and The Supremes.
Other artists with plenty of number one records are Michael Jackson, with 12, Elvis Presley who has 17, Mariah Carey has a cool 18, and The Beatles dominate with 20! Rihanna has so many years in her career to come; we can easily see her placing in the top 3 slots if not overtaking The Beatles.
The pattern for Rihanna’s success has also lead to award titles. Rihanna’s songs climb charts earning her the honor of racking up 20 top 10’s faster than any solo artist. It has taken Rihanna six years and two months to get here which is 3 months faster than Madonna. She is the fourteenth artist with the title and fifth lady.
If anyone ever questioned Rihanna’s success, these new titles just prove to the world that Rihanna is an artist who can do no wrong with her music. “We Found Love” is produced by Calvin Harris. When the single dropped, the lyrics stood out and the beat got everyone dancing. It wasn’t till we got wind of the video that controversy was stirred.
Rihanna shot a more provocative video. The video shows a violent relationship and the song’s title misrepresents the abuse. People want Rihanna to use her fame as a means of education and inspiration and this video didn’t meet everyone’s standards.
