Christina Milian is back.
The ‘Dip It Low’ singer has spent much of the last few years weathering a number of personal and professional hurdles; indeed her dramatic relationship with The-Dream, countless record-labels, motherhood, and ultimate lack of new music have almost eradicated any memory of how we came to know the starlet the first place.
However, after recently announcing her departure from The Voice (where she served as Social Media Correspondent for four seaaons), the 31-year-old seems to have a chart return in her sights. Currently signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money, the first taste of her new material surfaced today in the form of ‘Encore’.
Not to be confused as a single of sorts, the promo cut provides interesting insight into the direction of new Milian. Take a listen after the jump…
A pleasant potion of Pop-Urban, ‘Encore’ picks up where the meat of Milian’s career left off. For, this sounds like an older, more mature take on the brand of “mainstream Urban” she served up with hits such as ‘AM To PM’ and ‘When You Look At Me’.
Like most, of course we yearn for another ‘Dip It Low’, yet it’s clear from the material that followed the 2004 hit (see: ‘Say I’ and its dire housing album ‘So Amazin”, that Ms. Milian shines brightest with tracks that are more sugar than spice. More of this Christina, more of this.
Whoooo?
Your named gets a dislike from me, even though I agree with your question. #noshade

Shes obviously a CiCi Stan imposter.

#GTFOH I can’t with all theses TGJ stunts
This is ok but urban christina >>>>>>>>>>>>>.
So Amazin was a dopeeeeeeeeeeee album.
Foolin is one of the best rnb records ever.
yes Foolin is my fave track and Who’s Gonna Ride
That whole album was good
Hot Boy, My Lovin Goes >>>>>>>
truth
Omg what u know about foolin dat is da joint!!!
“Foolin” was definitely that cut, was my first pick from the album but after the years; “Twisted” became the best out of everything on that album…
For real that album was amazing! Still think its her best body of work!
I used to love me some Ms. Milian back in the day. Then I loved the dirction she was moving in when she was about to release her Elope LP (with songs like Welcome To Vegas, Never Mind, and Chameleon)….
But this….? NO.
NEXT!!!! :-/
This is a nice jam…..but So Amazin was a beast of an album i can play without skipping a track…lack of promo was that era downfall cause Christina can deliver LIVE
It sounds like a carly rae, and former s club 7 song blended……mature?….more like dated and a desperate attempt to achieve pop mainstream ranking…next!
This b**** is set whether she never sell another record, I don’t really like this it sounds very JLO I can’t see Christina singing it. She’s paid off writing “baby” “play” and “I’m real” tbh
Who cares about how much money she has? She obviously wants to be taken seriously as an artist, and this isn’t cutting it. Christina was always one hit away from slaying, but it never quite happened! I like her. She has a cute voice and killer dance moves.
No chile………
I am not one of those who sees someone who was a flash in the pan and roots against them as most do, but this right here is not it. I was actually pulling for her. She has the look and a studio-ready voice. But what is this? I thought Young Money would make her find that urban balance, but I suppose it was wishful thinking.
Perhaps this rap labels need to stop trying with these singers. Omarion hasn’t made any impact with Rick Ross; Chrisette’s album had some dope tracks, but wasn’t promoted (and when it was it was to the older audience who would like her old stuff, not the younger audience who would’ve liked her newest material); Christina shouldn’t be recording this.
Dip It Low ~was my jam & I can still play it & get my dance on!!
Not what I was expecting!
This sounds really similar to Mya’s Fabulous Life. I like her sexier songs. I think this sounds generic and so 2011.
What kinda Katy Perry reject song….girl no.
No Christina NO!!!! I need So Amazin and Elope type stuff not this B*******!
I would love to send a shout out to Christina Milian for keeping her word. I met her at LA Pride back in June this year and asked her when to expect new music and she said towards the end of this summer and she kept her word. TE AMO girl!
It’s alright kinda crappy. She’s gorgeous though.
im glad that this isnt a single we heard better songs from her
I don’t like this! Give me the Christina that put out that So Amazin’ album!
So Amazin was a Brilliant album the only reason it didn’t do well was because of label politics, don’t get it twisted. The first single from that album Say I went straight to number 1, but at that point, Jay Z, had just taken over Def Jam, and had no interest in Christina, he had bought in his own artist and spent the label money on promoting them and his rosta included Rihanna.
So Amazin was her best work and packed with hits!
Playing “Just a little bit” from that classic album so amazing
I did say she was the bootleg J.Lo, I stand correct still.
I do NOT like this sound for Christina. It is super generic.
This song is ok. But i like her songs that she had in the past. I am glad she isn’t working with her ex-husband the dream anymore. If she find some good producers to work with for her new album then i wish her the best. I like her as an actress now more then her singing.
She been suckin/f***** YMCMB for this?????? She got the short end, lol.
I don’t like this song at all, it sounds very white girl & she needs to leave white girl trash to white girls. Cause I don’t even mess with Katy Perry or Lady Gaga. So she needs to get back on “It’s About Time” & “So Amazin”; let that Cubanita come out over some urban tracks again, after all; she is on Young Money records; they need to make her sound like it.
Thanks very nice blog!
