Rihanna once stood as the unapologetic dispenser of an album a year. These days, though, she’s apologising for not dropping a project in three calendar years.
Recent times have seen RiRi establish herself as a trail-blazing entrepreneur, with successful ventures such as Fenty Beauty, Savage Fenty, and the Fenty luxury line in partnership with LVMH.
Still, music is on the mind. And it appears some major movement behind the scenes may explain the hold up.

According to Variety, the Bajan belle is believed to be on the cusp of a move to Sony/ATV Music Publishing.
Home to Beyonce and Jay-Z, the imprint is headed up by Jon Platt – who has been instrumental to all of their careers on the publishing front.
Interestingly, Rih moved to her current publishing home (Warner Chappell) prior to ‘ANTI’s release to join Platt when he served as chairman.
A switch to Sony ATV would reunite the powerful pair, and no doubt function as a huge coup for the publishing house – who’s music rights include releases from the Beatles and Taylor Swift.
The news comes as anticipation grows for Rih’s new material, which sources say may manifest in the form of two projects – a Pop centered set and a Reggae/Dancehall fusion celebrating the star’s Caribbean roots.
For what it’s worth, Platt and a number of Sony/ATV high-ups were in attendance at Ms. Fenty’s Diamond Ball gala last week.
