With Keyshia Cole‘s new LP ‘Calling All Hearts’ due out in stores today, sources close to the project are said to be worried about its lack of hit singles upon release.
Cole however isn’t so worried; though she does, in a recent interview with the Associated Press, admit to ‘I Ain’t Thru’ being the wrong single to lead the project.

NEW YORK – Keyshia Cole’s new album, “Calling All Hearts,” is out this week. It’s the follow-up to her first three albums, all platinum-sellers that had multiple R&B hits.
But this time around, Cole’s lead single has not created a buzz for the singer like it has done in the past. “I Ain’t Thru,” which features Nicki Minaj, has only peaked at No. 58 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart.
Cole says she made the decision to release the song — though her record label disagreed.
“The label didn’t really want to drop the record because they knew … that people wanted a more intense, soulful record from me about love and I really should have followed (their) direction,” she said. “But I wanted that to be a statement record. It’s like saying, ‘I’m doing me, you know. I don’t have no regrets for nothing that I’m doing.'”
“There’s no way to predict how people will respond to things,” said Ron Fair, chairman of Geffen Records. “It’s something that Keyshia really wanted to say.”
Cole is following up the song with “Long Way Down,” which she says “people are gravitating more toward” because of its mid-tempogroove and focus on love; the song was released to radio last week.
Fair, who executive produced all of Cole’s albums, says though the pre-album buzz isn’t as strong as it has been in the past, he’s not worried about the new album’s first-week sales.
“The record business is so perilous right now that it’s always, for me, a case of the tortoise not the hare,” Fair said. “What will be the ultimate judgment is where this record is in a year.”
Hmm. Having listened to the album, ‘ultimate judgement’ rests with the fact that it simply boasts little to no hit material. Therefore, if we’re to keep it real, the album is heading for a bargain-bin near you soon.
It will do MUCH better than F****** CAREYS “Memoirs of an Inperfect FLOP” that a MOTHERFUCKING FACT!
Man, I coulda told her that! She tried to ride the Nicki hype and it didn’t work. Same thing happened with “Play Ya Cardz Right”. Lucky for Keyshia, she’s got a great voice and always has strong albums.
She can’t really blame it on that single honestly they rushed the whole project. It wasn’t enough time for the sng to take off and her lyrics and sininging on that track wasn’t her best.
Why do her & Ciara not worried about album sales?!? I dont get it…. is it denial. Cuz if your an artist you have to be hot with a hot CD to have access to any other offer! Tours, movies ect… nothing has been exciting about her promotion of the album and Nicki couldnt even help the song chart well. I think Keysha will far shorter than Ciara’s Basic Instinct.
I say >30k at best. Maybe she should do another reality show to help her relevance and longevity.

Why is this filed under Michelle Williams. I’m not a keyshia fan at all so I don’t think I should speak on her but I will say that that song wasnt bad at all. If I was a fan I would bump it. I’ll try and sample her album n see.
What are the numbers / chart positions for both these song? I was under the impression that she released them both together. She said so herself on a recent radio interview.
I got the album and it had 5 really good songs on there like better me, thank u, that song with tank….and more….its obviously not as good as just like me but i feel all keyshia cole fans or rnb fans will like it….
She has a great voice unlike some people sooo i dnt really think she has anything to worry about.

I Ain’t Thru is obviously not the best song on the album, but there are some way better hits that can do well on the charts. Long Way Down, Thank You, Better Me, etc. Calling All Hearts has a chance to be a hit, but the way the music industry is now, anything can happen. I really hope that her CD can sell, but for some reason, a lot of Platinum recording artists of yore aren’t tearing up the charts like they used to. But I have faith in Keyshia Cole and I know that Calling All Hearts will deliver on the sales front. I’m going to buy my copy soon. Good luck to Keyshia. 🙂

and Keyshia’s single wasn’t good in the first place, Nicki made it more interesting, but the problem was the BEAT, it sucked…sounded like a unfinished/demo whatever!

Anyone could have told Keyshia that. She has a tenancy to do that whenever she starts new albums, she picks songs that are her favs, and they don’t even crack the top 10 on R&B. I predicted it would get as far as “Play Your Cards Right,” and I was right. She really saved the day with the second single-“Long Way Down,” because it is in retrospect to classic Keyshia, which is what people miss like old Mary. As far as the album is concerned, it is actually really great, how well will it go? Well, I could definitely see it going Gold, maybe Platinum by Spring is she picks the right singles.
Maraihs Memoirs, went gold and yearned a platinum plus top10 Hot100 single, that by todays standards is a success, of course she shoul;d have done better. But the album still got certified, all of her albums get certified even the smaller ones. You have no merit whomever u are. This is about Keyshia’s single, stick to the damn script.
Keyshia’s album is really good, it’s pure r&b. Long Way Down, is the single that will keep this album on track. She’s built a following. I Ain’t Thru was the wrong single.

im thinkin that her album is gonna do at least twice of Ciara, just because of her fanbase and BET support.
Also, it just seems like too many women tried to release albums this year, so some had to not do well, take in case many of the cds released in the last few weeks.
I wash my hands of Keyshia until she makes a good album, her vocals have been subpar lately… she doesn’t make an effort to make quality music anymore and I just can’t.
‘I Aint Thru’ is Keyshia’s worst released single to date. Even though she found her old style, it’s plain weak & it performed bad on the Billboard Charts. Her new album has a lot of hit singles, & they’re all better than ‘I Aint Thru’.

Keyshia needs to learn how to have more of a stage presence. Her live performances prove she’s studio produced because she can’t sing live or dance. I am through with Keyshia Cole until she learns how to sing her hits live.
I wish people would stop lying on these blogs about this album being bad. CALLING ALL HEARTS is a solid Keyshia Cole album. Yes, SHE fought for & picked the absolutely wrong track as the lead off single but there are more than enough great songs on which she sings her heart out:

Unfortunately for Keyshia in this current climate within the music industry, she may not get a 3rd single selection to keep the album afloat which is a shame because I think WHAT YOU DO TO ME would be a huge hit.
