We virtually stand together today to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the the BET Awards.
As the show’s motto highlights: “our culture is too big to cancel” and its impact all over the world.
This week’s From The Vault comes courtesy of Beyonce and Jay-Z. It’s the Carters debut performance of hit single ‘Deja Vu’ in 2006.
Issued as the first offering from Bey’s sophomore solo effort ‘B’Day,’ it was produced by Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins.
The track peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was also a hit overseas, topping the UK charts and reaching Top 20 status in numerous European countries.
Though Bey’s debut solo era and final Destiny Child run shortly after saw her pull out the big guns production-wise, she opted for a simpler approach for her premiere sophomore showing.
Indeed, backed by her newly-recruited all-female band The Mamas, Jay-Z, and her out-of-this world presence and charisma, the diva lit the stage on fire and injected new life into the already vibrant song.
When it comes to repping black excellence, it doesn’t get any better than The Carters, and that’s likely why over the years they have been honored in abundance by BET.
As well as Bey, we salute BET for championing the culture and bringing it to the forefront in such a resonating way for over 20 years with their globally renown ceremony. Here’s to many more!

Grapejuice face is so far up Beyonce ass that she hates anything grape! Anytime she does something they pinned it at the top, no other artist get that treatment & still she doesn’t acknowledge or even know the site.

This was a great performance! It was literally incredible but for y’all to post this today…eh. Honestly, we know y’all love Beyoncé but this is so tacky.
TGJ has become more of fan page than a blog that truly represents black music. Honestly y’all rave about the same few artists while criticizing the same artists. Personally I feel like Beyoncé gets special treatment from this blog because has given the same thing musically for a couple of years now yet it gets rave reviews. There has not been no growth since forever with B but the masses are blinded by the star power. As far this performance it was good, but the song is still terrible in my opinion.
