It looks like Kanye West may be set to make his grand return to Coachella as a headliner.

Variety reports that the rapper has been lined-up to join Billie Eilish on the hotly anticipated bill for this year’s installment of the world-renowned festival.

The ‘Touch The Sky’ lyricist first headlined in 2011.

With Coachella set to take place at Empire Polo Ground in Indio, Calif across the weekends of April 15-17 and April 22-24, 2022, word is that the MC will top-line the Sunday line-up, while Eilish will lead on Saturday.

There’s no word yet on who’ll be rocking the Friday slot.

The global health crisis has wreaked havoc on the live circuit and Coachella hasn’t been exempt from its wrath.

2020 was meant to see the festival headlined by Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, and Rage Against The Machine. 

Those plans were thrown into disarray with the onset of the pandemic and a proposed 2021 return wasn’t able to press on.

Still, word is that the idea was to preserve as much of the initial line-up as possible.

However, Ocean had other commitments. As such – in an unprecedented move – was confirmed as a headliner for the 2023 edition (two years beforehand). Meanwhile, Scott was reportedly axed in the wake of the Astroworld tragedy. For reasons not yet known, Rage Against The Machine is said to no longer be in the mix either.

The refreshed bill comes on the heels of West’s ‘Donda’ album – the campaign for which saw Ye pack out a multi-night stadium run that featured him “finishing” the LP in realtime.

For Eilish, the Coachella slot arrives amidst the push for her sophomore album ‘Happier Than Ever’ and would no doubt make her fans exactly that.

Some are wondering whether the soaring numbers of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 will have an impact on Coachella – as it’s had on the GRAMMYs. For now, though, it appears it’s all systems go.
