Meghan Markle has linked up with Mariah Carey for the latest episode of her podcast, ‘Archetypes.’
On it, they discuss everything, including what it is like to grow up as biracial.

When it comes to growing up biracial, Carey said: “I didn’t fit in. I didn’t fit in. You know, it would be more of the Black area of town or then you could be where my mom chose to live, were the more, the white neighborhoods. And I didn’t fit in anywhere at all.”
Markle said she could relate to the experience that Carey described, but praised the songstress for being an inspiration to her, saying: “You were so formative for me. Representation matters so much. But when you are a woman and you don’t see a woman who looks like you somewhere, in a position of power or influence, or even just on the screen… you came onto the scene and [I said], ‘Oh my gosh, someone kind of looks like me!’”
Markle then described some of the difficulties she faced growing up, revealing that she was not treated as a Black woman or a white woman, but somewhere in between.
However, it was until she married Prince Harry was she “treated like a Black woman.” This was an event she said when “things really shifted.”
Carey added to the conversation: “As a mixed woman, because I always thought it should be okay to say I’m mixed. Like it should be okay to say that. But people want you to choose. They want to put you in a box and categorize you.”

Lol I never thought mariah was full white because of how much soul she has and 95% of her collabs were with black artists. Meghan definitely looks like a white woman and is around nothing but white ppl.
I thought she was just a white woman doing R&B and collaborating with black artists, which I actually really liked as I thought it was whites and blacks coming together. It wasn’t until she spoke about it on Oprah when Can’t Take That Away was released as a single, which I thought was just a ballad on the Rainbow album that I had on CD.
Meghan looks like a spicy white or even Latina… Mariah looked biracial when she had her old nose and curly hair.
