August Alsina sent his fans into a frenzy of worry in late 2021 when he suggested he was hanging up his mic to head into retirement.
Yet, the award-winning R&B star followed the announcement by cranking out a steady stream of new music – even watching his songs ‘Lied To You,’ ‘Myself,’ ‘2 AM,’ and ‘Weekdays‘ enjoy a warm reception from music lovers (as we reported here).
And while those tunes were not accompanied with official reports about the larger project they were tied to, Alsina took to social media this week to lift the lid on news about his next body of work.
Turns out it will be hitting digital shelves a lot sooner than expected.

Hopping on Instagram Wednesday (March 8), August stunned fans with a photo of his new album’s cover artwork and the announcement the project – titled ‘Myself‘ – will be unveiled in full on Friday (March 10).
The post offered little other context about the forthcoming venture (i.e. features, producers, number of tracks, etc.).
His fourth studio effort, ‘Myself’ marks his second body of work released on the EMPIRE imprint and follows 2020’s ill-fated ‘The Product III.’
Not august Alsina dropping an album before Normani💀
🤣🤣🤣 exactly! That girl either ridiculously lazy or just don’t want it anymore.
But if it ever does drop she has stans like you who seem to be eagerly awaiting lol
I really enjoyed his last album. Sadly ppl slept on it but it was good. I believe the Smiths black balled him.
Too many gimmicks to be successful.
Hang it up flat screen boo.
Get on a gay show and call it a day…
I haven’t heard an August Alsina song since No Love…
Who cares exactly?
