Megan Thee Stallion‘s unexpected visit to the 2023 CMT Music Awards Sunday night (April 2) may have earned mixed reviews from viewers, but one person who was in royally in favor of the Rap star’s appearance was Queen of Country Pop Shania Twain.
After turning heads on the event’s red carpet thanks to a stunning, form-fitting blue dress, Stallion hit the stage to present Twain with the night’s Equal Play Award – a trophy that “recognizes trailblazers who are using their platform to break barriers, speak out against injustices, and challenge the status quo.”
Later that night, the ‘You’re Still the One’ singer chatted with our friends at ‘Entertainment Tonight’ to discuss the honor and even dish on her love for Meg.
“I love her. What a sweetheart,” the Country music royal relayed (as seen at the 1:00 mark in the video above). “We were sitting together in the audience. We really gelled very well. I really love her as a person.”
When playfully quizzed on if she would ever share studio time with the ‘Body‘ hitmaker, Twain didn’t hesitate to express approval of the idea.
“I was thinking that,” she said. “I think that would really work… I love her whole mind.”
If the musical superstars do ever collaborate, there’s only one thing Shania suggests is off the table: twerking.
“[Meg’s] a great talent. I was just glad she didn’t ask me to twerk [when she presented my award], you know? I would’ve had to say no. That I cannot do,” Twain said jokingly. “She was amazing and said so many sweet things. I was really flattered that she was there for me.”
At writing, Stallion has not responded to Shania’s statement.
