‘Dark Horse’ hitmaker Katy Perry is saddling up for a ride to the bank after hitching her top-selling catalog to Litmus Music.
Details inside…
Silencing months of rumors, the GRAMMY nominee made headlines Monday morning (September 18) after reports surfaced she sold the rights to her catalog to Litmus Music – a music rights company founded by former Capitol Records president Dan McCarroll (Perry’s longtime label home).
The terms of the deal see Katy hand over her stake in the masters for her five major label studio albums – ‘One of the Boys,’ the history-making ‘Teenage Dream,’ ‘Prism,’ ‘Witness,’ and ‘Smile’ – as well as her biggest hits aboard them like ‘Roar,’ ‘Firework,’ ‘I Kissed a Girl,‘ and more.
“Katy Perry is a creative visionary who has made a major impact across music, TV, film, and philanthropy. I’m so honored to be partnering with her again and to help Litmus manage her incredible repertoire,” McCaroll said in an official statement.
Hank Forsyth, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Litmus Music, echoed the sentiment.
“Katy’s songs are an essential part of the global cultural fabric. We are so grateful to be working together again with such a trusted partner whose integrity shines in everything that she does,” he said.
The news comes just weeks after the Pop diva revealed she is not only readying her next run as judge on ABC’s ‘American Idol’ but also putting the finishing touches on her long-awaited sixth major label studio album and possibly a supportive world tour.
Wtf I keep getting this McDonalds ad every 5 seconds, huh?? I’m about to stay of this site until the ad goes away
Hers & Shakira’s sold for the same amount. Is it a more lucrative biz move long term to sell one’s catalog?
Yes, especially if your career is faltering. May as well sell it.m now while it’s actually worth something
Makes sense, thx!
Well, I’m hoping her ghost writer Bonnie McKee will get some money from that jackpot
