Beyonce has ALWAYS been contemporary R&B… Carzy in love (probably her best single) and DIL ( probably her highest selling album) were both R&B. Songs that cross over to the “pop charts” are no longer considered R&B. But clearly something like the Boy Is Mine is an R&B songs that gets called a pop song simply because it charted.
