Things were finally starting to look up for ‘Started’ rapstress Iggy Azalea after the year saw her release two critically acclaimed cuts back to back (‘Sally Walker’ & ‘Started’ respectively).

While the former gave the saucy Aussie her highest Hot 100 appearance since 2016’s ‘Team,’ the latter J.White Did It-produced bop was seeming poised to power to similar heights before controversy struck.

After a wave of explicit photos leftover from her 2018 ‘GQ’ magazine feature were leaked (see the finished products from the shoot by clicking here), the 28-year-old shut down her social media handles. But, not before issuing a lengthy statement on the matter.

Ty Dolla Sign may be renown for his turn-up anthems, but he switches things all the way up on new single ‘Purple Emoji’ featuring rap titan J. Cole.

An ode to love, the track is the lead release from Ty’s upcoming album – one he deems his most personal to date. And this heartfelt jam most definitely sets quite the tone.

Lyrically, the cut sees the LA native wax honest about his feelings for a special someone and for its newly released video he expands the concept to celebrate love of all kinds.

For, featured in the clip are couples of different ages, races, and sexual orientations.

Speaking on the visual, director Olivia Rose explained:

“’Purple Emoji’ instantly connected with me on an authentic level. It’s so amazing to hear that sort of vulnerability from artists who are talking about their day ones and a love that we can all relate to. I wanted to stay true to the lyrics and create a video that showed real couples, real friends, real siblings and the tiniest of actions of intimacy they share. I think the outcome is a video that can resonate with all people from all walks of life and is representative of the full spectrum of love.”

With assistance from music’s heaviest hitters (Nipsey Hussle, Beyonce, Jay Z, Big Sean, John Legend, Cardi B, Meek Mill, and many more), DJ Khaled’s newest project – ‘Father of Asahd’ – was once believed to be a shoo-in for the top of the Billboard 200 upon its arrival. A feat not uncommon for the 43-year-old’s collaboration-heavy projects as both of ‘Asahd’s predecessors – 2016’s ‘Major Key’ and 2017’s ‘Grateful’ respectively – bowed atop the tally.

Yet, even after adding padding to the product’s first week sales via a merchandise bundle deal, Khaled’s effort still trailed behind fellow Hip Hop star Tyler, the Creator.
