Most would agree that 2011’s ‘Motivation’ set the wheels in motion for her present-day success; as such the timing of the track’s latest achievement couldn’t be anymore apt.

Much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ segments, readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.  So in a quest to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday we introduced a new retrospective segment – ‘TGJ Replay’.

Unlike its ‘Rewind’ and ‘Vault’ predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to dust off and showcase albums (and eras) from a library of pop music hits.  Next up?  We ode birthday girl Janet Jackson’s (who turns 47 today) classic breakthrough album ‘Control‘.

Like rival Madonna, Mariah Carey‘s ability to “comeback” is uncanny.

Indeed, despite a number of commercial missteps, the diva always manages to get back in the good graces of the masses; case, point, her new single ‘#Beautiful’.

Thanks largely to a coordinated Clear Channel radio deal (which saw the track played every-hour-on-the-hour on FIVE formats upon launch), the cut has not only rocketed into the Billboard charts, it has -in the process-become Carey’s biggest hit in four years.

With only a few days left until ‘American Idol’ ends its latest season, Pepsi front woman Nicki Minaj caught up with its ever charming host Ryan Seacrest for an upbeat and honest sit down interview.

Explaining her reason for joining the show in the first place, her time with Seacrest also saw her speak openly on her feelings towards industry politics and why she thought she and fellow judge Mariah would make the best ‘Idol’ duo of all time- and how she felt when that short lived dream was crushed.

The US music market has seen sales generated by digital releases surpass the $4 billion mark this year- according to a report by our friends over at Hits Daily Double.

No doubt excellent news for a business plagued by declining physical sales in recent years, heights reached by digital outlets have many to thank for this new feat. Many, which include R&B leader Frank Ocean, Rap domina Nicki Minaj and Roc Nation’s Rihanna.
