After years of swirling rumors, singer August Alsina – via an interview with Angela Yee – has confirmed he had a love affair with Jada Pinkett Smith.  As if that wasn’t enough to get tongues wagging, the 27-year-old singer says her Academy Award-nominated husband, Will Smith, allegedly gave the relationship his blessing.

In the interview (published June 30), Alsina said:

“I actually sat down with Will [Smith] and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership … he gave me his blessing.”

Reportedly introduced to Pinkett, 48, in 2015 by her son Jaden, Alsina detailed how he and the actress became so close he fell in love with her.

“I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really deeply love and have a ton of love for her. I devoted myself to it, I gave my full self to it — so much so to the point that I can die right now and be okay with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody.”

That’s not all he said.  See the interview that has everyone talking.

John Legend may have given his latest album, ‘Bigger Love,’ one of the biggest promo pushes any Urban act has seen this year, but those combined efforts didn’t result in much love from music buyers.

Released June 19, the LP – preceded by singles ‘Actions,’ ‘Conversations in the Dark,’ and its title track – went to chart battle with little buzz despite a media onslaught that featured appearances in or on high profile print, television, radio, and Web outlets.

Industry analysts suggested ‘Bigger’s first week sales would lodge Legend’s lowest ever (as we reported here).  Now that all sales and streams have been tallied, it seems their assessment was accurate.

As we reported here, Global Citizen amassed some of the leading names in entertainment, politics, social activism, and more for the benefit concert “Global Goal: Unite for Our Future.”

Airing June 27, the Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson-hosted event – which was live-streamed on Apple, Roku, TIDALTwitchTwitter, Yahoo! and YouTube – placed focus on communities that are disproportionately impacted by the pandemic (namely people of color, people facing discrimination, and the less fortunate) and came as a partnership with the European Commission.

In addition to seeing its virtual stage rocked by 8x GRAMMY winner Usher (as we reported here), fellow GRAMMY winners Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Shakira, and Jennifer Hudson respectively followed suit with equally rocking performances.

As we reported here, ‘Act Up’ performers City Girls had to act fast to rush release their highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘City on Lock,’ after an unexpected leak.

In doing so, however, they were not able to give the Quality Control set its due promo push – a predicament that’s undoubtedly been reflected in the project’s premiere week sales performance.

Industry analysts predicted the ‘Jobs’-led LP would clock in with less than 21,000 sold due to an abbreviated inaugural tracking week (as we reported here).

Now, with the final tally lifted, look inside to see just how right the projections were:

Last week (as we reported here), Beyoncé sprang a surprise on fans when she unleashed new song ‘Black Parade.’

Wasting no time zooming to the top of real-time sales tallies (where it remained for days after its premiere), the Derek Dixie-produced bop came as a musical celebration of Juneteenth – the holiday designated to honor the end of slavery.

Now, her beloved fans – affectionately called the #Beyhive – have even more reason to celebrate as the updated Billboard Hot 100 reveals the tune has made a promising start.  Debuting at #37, the entry not only marks Bey’s 40th trip to that region of the chart since the start of her solo career in 2002 but also her 65th solo Hot 100 entry overall.
