Moments after George Floyd‘s family attorney Benjamin Crump took to Twitter to report the arrest of the remaining ex-officers responsible for Floyd’s death (as we reported here), the Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison officially announced their charges.

The public was already alerted to the arrest of Derek Chauvin (the former officer directly responsible for the death of Floyd) as his third-degree murder charge was upgraded to second-degree murder.

Likewise, the three other officers who were fired alongside him – Tou ThaoThomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng – went from uncharged to charges of aiding and abetting second-degree murder, according to court documents.

‘Clarissa Explains It All’ star Melissa Joan Hart has got some explaining to do herself after she posted a photo to Instagram some are deeming ‘tone deaf’ in light of the heightened conversations around racial privilege and cultural sensitivity.

Taking to the platform Monday (June 1), Hart posted a still photo from the 1935 film ‘The Little Colonel’ to celebrate diversity on screen.  The problem?  The focal Black character in the movie, Mr. Bojangles, has long been pointed to as representative of a problematic trope in African American film history (namely due to the limitations of roles available to actors of color during the time period).

Regardless, the TV actress is learning the hard way about racial insensitivity.  See what we mean inside:

Like many-a-celebrity, Tinashe took to social media on #BlackoutTuesday (June 2) to voice her support for the Black Lives Matter movement and to drum up awareness about racial equality, police brutality, and more.

After the ‘2 On’ hitmaker set her sights on President Donald Trump specifically, however, Errol Webber – a cinematographer-turned-politician – hopped in to defend him.

Slamming the songstress for not being ‘able to chart above #100 on Billboard,’ Webber (currently campaigning for a seat in the U.S. House to represent California’s 37th Congressional District) ignited a fiery Twitter exchange with T that resulted in a virtual brawl with her fans.

Trina is wasting no time addressing the drama she found herself in this morning, after comments she made about the race riots fell foul of public favor.

As reported, the rapper slammed the riots that have broken out in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

The passing of the unarmed Black man, after Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for nine minutes, has sparked protests and broader discourse about racial injustice.

It’s exactly this that has so many riled up at Trina, who used her Miami radio platform to brand rioters as “animals” and suggest it’s Black people destroying Black businesses.

She went on to stress that she isn’t afraid of being stopped by police while driving because she has her “license and registration.”

Despite the backlash, she’s undeterred. So much so that she’s doubling down on her comments.
