Just two weeks after dropping his new song ‘Lied To You’ (as we reported here), August Alsina is back to bring the Romano-produced song to life with its official music video.

The performance clip, directed by MarkMark, sees the R&B heartthrob flex his modeling skills while crooning the catchy cut’s lyrics.

“If they tell you I stay with the bang gang, then they tellin’ the truth / If they tellin’ you some of the fame changed me, they tellin’ the truth / If they tell you that I ain’t a hunnid n***a then they lied to you,” Alsina relays on the chorus.

Despite garnering his fair share of headlines over the last year (see: beef with Tory Lanez, joining the cast of VH1’s ‘Surreal Life’ reboot, seemingly coming out as gay, and more), August Alsina has been pretty quiet on the music front since taking to social media last Fall to suggest he’s hanging up the mic.

And while it’s unclear if retirement plans are still on the table for the 30-year-old, what is clear is he’s not leaving his fans hanging without one last hurrah.

The latest taste of new music from the award-winning crooner comes courtesy of new song ‘Lied To You.’

“If they tell you I came up from nothing then know that they tellin’ the truth. If they told you I been in the trenches believe ‘em they tellin’ the truth,” he croons over the Trap-inspired melody.

Believed to be one of many gems set to line the follow-up to 2020’s ill-fated ‘State of Emergency,‘ hop inside to hear ‘Lied’ in full.

August Alsina was thrust into the headlines like never before this week after seemingly coming out during the closing credits of ‘The Surreal Life.’

As reported, the R&B singer gushed about “the person” he loves and loves him back, a love that “defies all the constructs of what love is supposed to be or look like.” Alsina stressed that he wanted to share said love “in front of the world.” He was then joined by a male companion, who he warmly embraced.

Social media timelines exploded with speculation around whether the performer had just “come out” as being part of the LBGTQ community or whether the person in question was – as has been intimated by some – his “brother.”

Pending the airing of the next episode, a cloud of ambiguity surrounds the topic.

However, it appears Alsina’s castmate Tamar Braxton may have provided a little more…clarity.

Despite having racked up awards and critical acclaim for hits found aboard his first two albums, 2014’s ‘Testimony‘ and 2015’s ‘This Thing Called Life,’ a little thing called an ‘entanglement‘ still haunts R&B singer August Alsina as the defining moment of his career.

So much so, he recently told the press that he passed on reality TV opportunities multiple times before finally saying yes to the forthcoming reboot of VH1’s ‘The Surreal Life’ – the infamous ‘Real World’-inspired unscripted venture that houses a group of celebrities under one roof for two weeks to chronicle the drama that unfolds.

Taking to ‘ET,’ Alsina not only dished openly about the experience of sharing a home with basketball legend Dennis Rodman, comedienne-actress Kim Coles, award-winning R&B singer-songwriter Tamar Braxton, actor Frankie Muniz, and other celebs but also talked about how the revived series will showcase his life post-drama with Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Tory Lanez may have seen the last two years of his career dominate headlines more for personal and legal drama than his professional endeavors, but that hasn’t stopped the Canadian rapper from trying to get the ears of the masses on his music.

Hot on the promo trail in support of the September 30 release of his new album, ‘Sorry 4 What,’ Lanez drove over to ‘The Breakfast Club’ Thursday morning (September 29) to dish with the radio show’s resident hosts about the project and other recent happenings.

But when the conversation tipped over to more controversial topics, Lanez steered it back to his music – ultimately refusing to talk about his headline-grabbing (alleged) altercation with singer August Alsina that left the “entangled” star bruised and bloody.

Similarly, when quizzed about his ongoing legal spat with Megan Thee Stallion over reports he shot her in the foot, Tory pressed back to redirect the focus of the discussion on his forthcoming LP.

An awkward watch for sure, look inside to see highlights from the nearly hourlong chat.

‘Talk to Me’ hitmaker Tory Lanez can expect to be talking to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) soon for his role in an alleged attack on R&B singer August Alsina.

As we reported here, Alsina took to the net to say he was assaulted by the “receding haired leprechaun” backstage at a concert over the weekend and uploaded bloodied photos of himself as proof of the altercation.

When news began to circulate about the fight, which is rumored to stem from beef between the performers regarding comments Tory allegedly made about August’s Jada Pinkett-Smith “entanglement,” the Canadian rapper (born Daystar Peterson) took to social media to deny the claims – later doubling down on the assertion via an interview with DJ Akademiks Sunday (September 18).

“I don’t even know what this kid is talking about, brother,” he told DJ before saying, “…I don’t know if he’s doing promo. I don’t know what that n*gga is talking about, brother.”

Not even a day later, video footage surfaced that suggests a story different from that of Lanez’ – a circumstance that’s caught the attention of the LAPD.
