If you thought Jennifer Hudson‘s absence from news headlines was indication she wasn’t busy, you couldn’t be more mistaken.

As she preps for her leading role in NBC’s ‘Hairspray Live!’ (December 7th) and hitting the judges’ bench for ‘The Voice UK,’ the Grammy-winning diva is also reportedly hard at work preparing for her role in Adam Sandler’s Netflix project ‘Sandy Wexler.’  But, fans of Hudson’s claim to fame – music – needn’t worry they’ll be neglected much longer.

After her 2014 “self-titled” project, ‘JHud,’ was met with mixed critical review (and poor commercial reception), the powerhouse singer is finally ready for redemption via her yet-titled fourth LP.  Taking to Billboard, Hudson recently delivered an update on the project and her other dealings.

Mary J. Blige won’t be taking any “crispy chicken” flavored shade again.

The Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul has been the subject of jests after a preview of her interview with US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton went viral.

Blige was featured singing what sounded like an impromptu instruction song directed tat those stopped by police officers.

Millions LOL’ed, while others billed it ill-advised. For MJB, though, she has no time for the jabs or drama.

Her emphatic response awaits below…

As thespians go, few come as seasoned or respected as Denzel Washington and Viola Davis.

This Holiday, the powerful pair team up for ‘Fences’ – a flick many industry commentators have already tipped for Oscar success.

The film – a re-telling of the Tony winning play – is set in the 1950s and shares the story of a once-promising baseball player (Washington) who now drives a trash truck and must deal with raising his family.

Thematically, the movie strikes a number of emotional chords; a point its titillating points to in earnest.

Newly unwrapped, the first look preview awaits below…

Usher‘s 8th opus, ‘Hard II Love,’ may have lived up to its title after all.

Indeed, after gaining mixed review from industry insiders and fans alike (see:  thumbs down for “trend-hopping,” “lack of overall theme,” etc.), ‘Hard’ – released September 16th – was predicted to make little impact on the Billboard 200 after a full tracking week.

In fact, analysts projected the project would not only bomb – much like Ush’s ‘Hands of Stone’ movie that preceded it by two weeks – but it would give the Grammy-winning R&B vet the lowest first week sum of his 20 year+ career.

Needless to say, they were right.  Tuck in below to find out the official figures Billboard is reporting:

Soulful songbird Emeli Sande hatches her sophomore album, ‘Long Live The Angels’ on November 11th and is wasting no time revving up the hype machine.

With lead single ‘Hurts’ receiving showers of praise upon its release, the Scottish bred belter will no doubt be hoping the rest of the project is gifted as warm a welcome.

Expectations are high given the gargantuan success of debut album ‘Our Version Of Events,’ which amasses global sales of 4.7 million and was certified 7x Platinum in the UK.

To aid her cause this go round, the singer-songwriter has re-teamed with the likes of Naughty Boy and paired up with Jay Electronica, as well as Mac & Phil.

Find out which tracks join ‘Hurts’ on the star’s first offering under Roc Nation management below…

Much to the dismay of Little Monsters, ‘Perfect Illusion,’ the long-awaited comeback single from Mother Monster Lady Gaga, didn’t exactly scare the competition away upon its recent Billboard Hot 100 debut this week.

Released September 9th to mixed critical review, the dramatic tune has (as of time reporting) accumulated nearly 17 million views on Youtube – a sum that certainly helped its moderate premiere placement on the singles chart.  Add to that sales of 100,000 first-week downloads (week ending Sept. 15), 8.3 million first-week U.S. streams, and 22 million in airplay audience, the Hot 100’s top 10 may have eluded ‘Illusion’ its debut week, but – with the debut of its official accompanying music video tonight –  there may still be hope…

Usher‘s new album is receiving love from reviewers, but is proving ‘Hard II Love’ for consumers.

In a bid to turn the tide, the singer stopped by The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 today to chat about a whole host of topics.

Usher unleashed his eighth studio album ‘Hard II Love’ on the masses last week. And though the final tally has yet to be counted, the official sales forecast sent the net into a flutter.

For, the set – led by singles ‘Crash’ and ‘No Limit’ – is on course to debut with 25,000; the lowest US numbers of the crooner’s career.

Given the unforgiving nature of today’s age and the fickleness of select fans, some have deemed it “the end” for the 8-time Grammy winner.

We’re not so sure about that, but can’t distract from the fact that something is…off.

Join us below as we unpack the problems and size up the solutions…

On the critical front Britney Spears‘ 9th album, ‘Glory,’ has certainly lived up to its titling.  Hailed by many as her best work since 2007’s groundbreaking, ‘Blackout,’ the album has certainly earned its share of glorious reviews from industry insiders and music lovers alike.

Sadly – even with a fair promotional schedule that’s seen her tackle print, radio, and television – that fanfare has not been reflected commercially.  Moving a moderate 111,000 SPS its first week, the album was blocked from the top spot by legendary diva Barbra Streisand and country group Florida Georgia Line.  But, if fans were disheartened by those first week figures, second week is singing an even worse song for the ‘Baby One More Time’ singer.

With a whopping 87% drop in sales, Spears made a beeline right out of the top 10 in just the second full week of the set’s full availability.  Keen to know where she landed on this week’s refreshed chart?
