Few artists are as revered and respected as R&B icon Maxwell.

As such, we were elated to catch up with the crooner at the BET American Black Film Festival Honors in Los Angeles this week.

In attendance to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the movie ‘Love Jones’ (the soundtrack for which housed his song ‘Sumthin’ Sumthin’), the singer stopped to chat EXCLUSIVELY with That Grape Juice; dishing on the film and its significance and and his upcoming new album.

The latter will serve as the final instalment of his ‘BLACKsummer’snight’ trilogy.

Last year brought with it the second part, which arrived after a seven year hiatus.

This go round, Maxwell says he won’t be leaving his fans waiting as long. Watch his chat with TGJ’s Ques above to find out why.
