Bright colours, bright wig, dim talent. Needless to say, Rihanna‘s shooting a new music video.

The model, whose Navy spent so much time defending her they forgot to buy her poorly selling new album, hopes to keep the record’s flame ablaze with its second single ‘You Da One’ – the video for which she shot in London today.

Being the fair and unbias site we are, we won’t judge the clip until seeing it in its entirety. However, we just hope she and director Melina have conjured up something original. We wouldn’t want a repeat of the plaguirsm which marred their most recent efforts.

Your thoughts?

Despite bringing in some of her lowest first week sales in quite some time, Mary J. Blige continues on the promo path for ‘My Life II:  The Journey Continues’.  Most recently spotted for fans viewing pleasure on ABC’s ‘The View’, the Queen of Hip Hop Soul certainly showed up and out royally in a stirring rendition of ‘Mr. Wrong’.

While the Drake-assisted cut’s video has already been shot and is soon forthcoming, fans who can’t get enough of the ‘Enough Cryin’ songstress can see her live performance after the jump:

In a few hours time, the world will discover just how many copies Rihanna‘s latest album ‘Talk That Talk‘ has sold within its first week of  its US release.

Expected to chart somewhere in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200, the project has already spawned the #1 single ‘We Found Love‘ and with the video for its follow up ‘You Da One‘ expected to premiere in coming weeks, many fans are hoping it will exceed sales of ‘Loud‘ and ‘Rated R‘.

Now we want to know.

Today’s From The Vault pick comes in the form of Janet Jackson‘s ‘Call On Me’.

A duet with St. Louis native Nelly, the cut was released in 2006 as the first single from the superstar’s ninth LP,’20 Y.O’. With production courtesy of then-boyfriend Jermaine Dupri and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, ‘Call’ was a moderate hit, peaking at #25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 for six weeks on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

The track was the triple-threat diva’s first “hand-clap ballad” try out, which had been rather controversial among her legion of fans. In spite of the change in style, the track still had all the winning elements of a classic Janet cut: great harmonies, whimsical melody, catchy hooks…

The Hype Williams directed music video depicts the ‘All For You’ singer as a mystical goddess, and is influenced by African and Asian cultures.

Although its use of CGI was criticized by some, it remains one of the 45 year old’s most artistic videos to date.

One thing is for sure: Janet Jackson is a living legend, a visionary who has changed the face of the entertainment industry forever. Having said that, we strongly feel it’s about time J stopped celebrating past glories from the 80’s and 90’s and started concentrating on having another decade filled with #1’s. As we have stated in previous posts, Damita Jo still has IT in abundance, so there is absoluetly no reason why, given the right material and promotion, she shouldn’t be back on top.

Judging from some of today’s biggest acts, it’s clear to say that the world is in need of some more Discipline from Ms. Jackson (if you Nasty!)

When Beyonce said that she and Rihanna were like family back in 2009, she most certainly  was not joking.

For today ,intimate footage of  the the Island belle  spending time with loved ones narrated by the singer’s husband Jay  Z, has surfaced online just in time for Thanksgiving.

Sure to serve as holy grail for her  fan base, the touching clip flaunts a softer side to the performer, capturing her in the company of her mother, brother and other close relatives.

When critics talk, Billboard listens.

For, in what news that will serve to change the way albums chart on the Billboard 200 forever, the company has announced it is to introduce a new policy which will make scoring #1 albums all the more difficult for artists who feel they can ‘cheat’ their way to the top.

Six albums in six years. Say what you want about Rihanna, but that is quite the feat.

Yet, it’s this very fact that has divided fans and critics alike. For, the Bajan star has crammed into her short career releases and achievements her predecessors have worked decades to amass.

Predictably, the 23 year old’s supporters lap up each annual effort. One after the other, after the other. However, growing ever wider is the sect of listeners who attribute her success to being little more than a record label puppet. Indeed, with few writing credits, a limited vocal range, and a “change-with-the-sway” sound, it’s hard to posit the contrary.

Whatever the reality, the singer remains a staple on the tongues of many.  A sentiment well captured on the title of her sixth studio album ‘Talk That Talk’.

However, with ample doubt still surrounding Ri’s legitimacy, it quite – literally – is time for her to ‘walk that walk’.

After attending Def Jam’s London playback, That Grape Juice gives you the WORLD EXCLUSIVE first full review of the album everyone’s waiting for.

Since her debut six years ago, Pop belle Rihanna has rightly or wrongly seen her career center  more on style than on  substance.

Yes, quite unfortunately  the ever changing hair colors, larger than life persona and knee jerk approach to releasing music have led many to accuse the Island beauty of being nothing more than a ‘flash in the pan’.

Now, she has given her thoughts on her matter.

The music world was rocked today with the loss of rap pioneer Heavy D.  The famed rapper, whose hits include “Now That We Found Love” and “Nuthin’ But Love”, died today at age 44.  His influence, seen heavily (even today) in the Hip Hop community, led friends, fans, and followers to take to Twitter to offer condolences.

Nicki Minaj, Usher, Missy Elliott & Timbaland, and LL Cool J are just a few of the names who joined in the out-pour of support for the fallen rapper.  See their statements after the jump:

Set for release on November 21st, Rihanna‘s upcoming ‘Talk That Talk‘ album has already become one of the year’s more anticipated releases.

Though expected to fail at reaching #1 – with  Mary J. Blige and Michael Jackson releasing albums on the same day-the LP is predicted to enjoy a commendable position in the top 5  of the Billboard 200 upon its release.

Now we want to know.
