Anita Baker may have garnered mixed reviews for her a capella take on the U.S. national anthem at January’s NFC Championship Game (as we reported here), but the Queen of Quiet Storm earned a royal applause from onlookers for her rendition of the historic tune in Las Vegas on Saturday (May 27).

On hand at the Michelob Ultra Arena for home opener of the Las Vegas Aces vs. the Los Angeles Sparks, Baker lifted the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ to new heights ahead of the Aces (players, coaches, and staff) receiving their championship rings in honor of their 2022 WNBA championship win.

In celebration of 50 years of awarding excellence in daytime television programming, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the nominees for the annual Daytime Emmy Awards recently.

“In addition to this year’s many esteemed nominees, it is especially gratifying to also be celebrating so many milestones of Daytime television in our 50th anniversary year,” said Brent Stanton, Head of Daytime, NATAS. “Not only are we celebrating 50 years of Daytime Emmy® Award programming, we are also celebrating the milestones of some of its longest-running shows such as General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray.”

While the 60-year-old, legendary soap opera ‘General Hospital‘ led the way with a whopping 19 nods, standout nominees also included beloved talk shows ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ (11), ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ (7), ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’ (6), and ‘Sherri,’ ‘Tamron Hall,’ and ‘The View’ (4 each).

The “Ed Sheeran takeover” is revving up in celebration of the release of his May 5-due new album, ‘Subtract.’

Kicked off by previously released singlesEyes Closedand Boat,’ the era’s seen the GRAMMY winner take to TV, Web, print, radio, and more in promotion of the forthcoming opus – his first studio effort since 2021’s ‘Equals.‘ As if that’s not enough, Sheeran’s dedicated fans – affectionately called #Sheerios – are anxiously awaiting the premiere of his four-part Disney+ documentary, ‘Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All,’ that will begin streaming on May 3.

Just in case music lovers need even more from the chart-topping superstar, he’s set to begin the North American leg of his global Mathematics‘ stadium tour on May 6 – a massive jaunt that’s now incorporating more intimate, theater dates in its itinerary.

Sam Smith is strutting the promotional pavement in support of their brand new album ‘Gloria.’

With the LP just one week away from its January 27 release, the performer stopped by Saturday Night Live to serve up a musical feast from the project.

As is custom for SNL guests, Smith delivered two showings – the first being a high-octane performance of #1 hit ‘Unholy’ with Kim Petras and a moving rendition of the ‘Gloria’ title track.

The British belter’s appearance on the long-running NBC series comes as they gear up to hit the road on ‘Gloria – The Tour’ – which is set to make stops in North America, the UK, Europe, and Australia.

It’s almost time for the 54th Annual NAACP Image Awards.

Unveiling its full list of nominations today, the prestigious awards honor actors, actresses, singers, authors, and activists of color, in and out of the entertainment industry.

Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, and ‘Insecure’ lead the pack of music, film, and TV nominees.

Queen Bey and K. Dot top the music tally with 5 nominations each, while Marvel’s hotly anticipated ‘Black Panther’ sequel and the Quinta Brunson-led ‘Abbott’ amassed 12 and 9 noms in their respective fields.

Elsewhere ABC and Netflix lead in the TV and motion picture categories.
