The Band Aid 30 remake of ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ has been the subject of much debate since its recording over the weekend.

Indeed, for all the praise showered on the 2014 version of the track (which was first released in 1984), there has also been many who’ve branded it unnecessary and even culturally insensitive.

However, despite the back and forth, sales of the charity single (which aims to raise money for the Ebola relief effort in Africa) have proven phenomenal.

More on the success of the Rita Ora, One Direction, Emeli Sande, Sam Smith, and Bono fronted track below…

They could be revolutionaries in the making or they could just be plain crazy.  And, if a recent New York Times interview is anything to judge by, more people are willing to bet the latter than the former.

Whatever you peg them, the Smith kids – Jaden and Willow – have certainly been earning their fair share of names from spectators as of late.  The elder Smith and his bevy of memorable quotes like “how can mirrors be real if our eyes aren’t real” and “if everyone dropped out of school we’d have a more intelligent society” have earned mix review from commenters who can’t decide of the former ‘Karate Kid’ is genius or nah.

Willow, on the other hand, has made just as many headlines for her outspoken nature.  Now, it seems the duo is poised to keep the side-eyes and raised eyebrows coming via an interesting New York Times interview that’s leaving many-a-head scratched.  Read some of the quotes below:

As if the Lifetime-lent Aaliyah biopic that aired Saturday night didn’t ruffle enough feathers by itself, producer Wendy Williams’ response to the backlash didn’t exactly help.

Taking to her top-rated talk show this morning to scoff at naysayers who slammed the film’s casting and overall production, Williams was quoted saying:

“Everybody’s got an opinion.  Whether you loved or hated it, you watched [because] it was the second highest rated movie on all of cable this year so far.”

At the time Wendy made the statements, no receipts had surfaced to substantiate her claim.  This has since changed.  Tuck in below to see how the movie not only a win for Wendy, but for Lifetime as well as it dominated television, but Nielsen Twitter ratings as well:

The net was set ablaze over the weekend following the airing of Lifetime‘s critically panned Aaliyah biopic.

A volcano of opinions populated social media after the airing of ‘Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B’, with the lava of anger still spilling over today.

Notable in her silence, though, was the project’s executive producer Wendy Williams.

The talk show maven turned media mogul had been promoting the movie in earnest and guaranteed that her enlisting (which took place in the advanced stage of the production process) would ensure that the story would be told “right”.

Needless to say, the masses have made clear that they disapprove.

Wisely choosing to address the matter on her show today (see: ratings), Williams defended the flick and cited its major ratings as the true indicator of its success.

See what she had to say below…
