The net was set ablaze over the weekend following the airing of Lifetime‘s critically panned Aaliyah biopic.

A volcano of opinions populated social media after the airing of ‘Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B’, with the lava of anger still spilling over today.

Notable in her silence, though, was the project’s executive producer Wendy Williams.

The talk show maven turned media mogul had been promoting the movie in earnest and guaranteed that her enlisting (which took place in the advanced stage of the production process) would ensure that the story would be told “right”.

Needless to say, the masses have made clear that they disapprove.

Wisely choosing to address the matter on her show today (see: ratings), Williams defended the flick and cited its major ratings as the true indicator of its success.

See what she had to say below…

Like many on the internet, Lifetime‘s biopic on the late, great Aaliyah angered the singer’s longtime friend and collaborator Timbaland.

As reported, the hitmaker took to Instagram following the movie’s airing on Saturday to air his dismay at the critically-panned film.

With his temperament somewhat calmed, Timbo called into Ebro In The Morning on Hot 97 today to elaborate on what he brands a “mockery” by all involved with the production.

Nicole Scherzinger returned to The X Factor UK tonight and made quite the mark when she performed new single ‘Run’.

The former judge had been at the centre of UK headlines prior to even stepping on stage due to an alleged rivalry with current panelist Cheryl Cole (who has said less than becoming things about her in the past). Yet, while the the ladies kept it cordial, an actual cord must have been unplugged, because Scherzinger suffered a lighting malfunction during the performance.

Like a seasoned professional, she soldiered on and soared with an awesome vocal showing. However, the outage seems to have jarred the former Pussycat Doll, who took to Instagram to explain the situation.

Welcome back to TGJ Replay!

Designed much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ features, ‘Replay’ is That Grape Juice‘s newest retrospective segment – a written quest, if you will, to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday.

Unlike its ‘Rewind’ and ‘Vault’ predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to dust off and showcase entire albums (and eras) from a library of pop and Urban pop music hits.

With Lifetime Network gaining a bevy of bad reviews for its controversial, unauthorized biography of one of R&B’s most beloved characters, Aaliyah, we thought it a perfect time to shine some light and ode her debut album ‘Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number.’ As the album celebrated its 20th birthday this summer, let’s go back back to the ‘Back & Forth’ singer’s humble beginnings…
