Friday saw Raven Symone add yet another controversial statement to her yearlong list of “smh-worthy” moments when she informed ‘The View’ viewers that she would not hire someone if they had a “ghetto name.”  The statement set off a firestorm of articles, video responses, and other commentary on social media, even to the point the singer/actress/talk show host’s very own father got in on the action.

Weary of the criticism, Symone finally took to Facebook tonight to break her silence on the hot topic and clarify her stance.

Whoever said R&B is dead needs to recheck its pulse.  For, this week marks the first time in nearly a decade the entire Billboard 200’s top 5 is made up solely of Urban acts (Hip Hop/R&B).

Indeed, Tamar Braxton, Drake, Future, The Weeknd, Fetty Wap, and, of course, pop queen Janet Jackson, are all in control of this week’s tally and waving the flag for Urban music high.  This is particularly the case for the latter who, as reported here, will not only bow at #1 with her long-awaited 11th album ‘Unbreakable,’ but will also break a few records along the way.

It’ll take more than a failed first single to stop Britney Spears‘ latest album campaign.

Yes, after ‘Pretty Girls’ suffered an ugly defeat on the Billboard Hot 100 the ‘Baby One More Time‘ belle has returned to the studio to build new jams and shared the snap above to prove it!

Snapped alongside her are the creatives DJ Burns and producer-songwriter Mischke Butler who are hard at work on the project before its likely 2016 due date.

Thousands of people gathered in Washington D.C. yesterday afternoon to take place in the 20th anniversary celebration of the ‘Million Man March.’

Never heard of it? The march was first called in 1995 to “unite black men and pledge self-reliance and commitment to their families and communities.”

Twenty years later its impact continues to be felt within the communities it set out to help and was celebrated by many an African-American entertainer when it took place again yesterday.

Critics are already projecting the sophomore slump on two of TVs favorite newcomers.

Despite their respective season 2s premiering to fantastic numbers, the Terence Howard-led FOX hit ‘Empire’ and ABC’s #TGIT junior ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ (Viola Davis) are seeing ratings get further and further away from their blockbuster openings.

‘Empire,’ which experienced its first ever drop in ratings last week, dropped even further this week as final reports reveal (despite still reigning as Wednesday night TV’s champion).  Elsewhere, ‘Murder’ didn’t exactly make a killing with its ratings either and delivered its lowest numbers to date.
