While some of the music world awaits the reunion of R&B girl group Destiny’s Child at this year’s Superbowl,  there has been chatter about another all female supergroup reuniting – The Clark Sisters.

Indeed, the legendary foursome that lent such hits as “Blessed & Highly Favored” and “You Brought the Sunshine” promised their 2007 compilation ‘Live: One Last Time’ would be just that – their last.

However, chatting with the group’s jazziest member Dorinda Clark Cole (“I’m Still Here”, “Take It Back”) at last night’s 2013 Stellar Awards, That Grape Juice uncovered news that a united return featuring sisters Karen Clark Sheard, Twinkie Clark, and Jackie may be on the horizon.

Also dishing on her ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ nomination for her latest effort ‘I Survived’ (subsequently awarded to niece Kierra Sheard), press PLAY above to get the scoop.

Your thoughts?

Can you believe it’s been two years since Lil Kim released ‘Black Friday’? And yet 24 months after the mixtape topped the Paypal 100, there’s been no follow-up album nor any news about one.

Still, as keen appreciators of Kim’s legacy, any sighting of the Queen Bee brings a smile to our face. Case, point, this shot of the femcee on the set of Tiffany Foxx‘s video for buzz single ‘Jay Z’ – which also features the pint-sized icon.

As reported last Fall, Foxx has been anointed as Kim’s protegé, something we’re entirely in support of. Not so much because the New Yorker is the second coming. Rather, it’s due to Kim being better suited to a nurturing role at this stage of her career.

Like Ashanti, she’s made no secret of her disdain for the supposedly “insulting deals” labels are putting on the table to veterans such as herself (see: 360). And with each year reducing the chance of a better deal being cooked up, also dissolved are our hopes of  Kim releasing a 00’s album as epic as ‘The Naked Truth’. Or an album of any sort. Such a project requires two components: artistic confidence and a mini-machine to mobilize its cause. Sadly, these are things Kim clearly doesn’t have in her arsenal anymore.

And while that would have made us sad several years ago, it’s a reality we’re surprisingly comfortable with today. Much like a boxer, artists like Kim have their prime and their shine for a period in time. Jury’s out on whether Kim’s run has ended. However, one thing both she and her fans should celebrate is that her legacy is ever-lasting.

Anyway, enough of the rambling…

Romance to rivalry.

Indeed, that’s the trajectory of former lovers Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake – at least on the charts.

As earlier reported, last night saw the Gospel music community show up and show out for the Stellar Awards 2013.

One of the many stars in attendance was Destiny’s Child singer and latest addition to the cast of FELA, Michelle Williams.

Beaming in an elegant gown, the 32 year old was in the house to promote her upcoming Inspirational album and re-engage with an arena of music she considers her first love.

Peep more pics below, which also include Michelle’s backstage reunion with former manager Mathew Knowles.

“If we were two Lego blocks even the Harvard University graduating class of 2010 couldn’t put us back together again”

Back in 2010, those were the very words Mariah Carey cooed on her then-single ‘Up Out My Face’ – which featured a then-rising Nicki Minaj. Fast forward 3 years and we’re sure the premium diva is directing those lyrics to the rapper…for quite different reasons (see: beef). Nevertheless, the American Idol judges’ release is this week’s From The Vault pick.

Originally included on MC’s 2009 opus ‘Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel’ sans Minaj, the version which featured the femcee was rolled out as as the first single (alongside ‘Angel’s Cry’ feat. Ne-Yo) from her scrapped remix album ‘Angels Advocate’. Musically, the release was helmed by Mimi, Tricky Stewart and The Dream – the team behind the totality of the song’s parent LP.

Criminally underrated, the single didn’t exactly set the charts alight – charting at #39 on the US Hip-Hop/R&B and only at a mere #100 on the Hot 100. Still, we feel it was wholly deserving of the “single treatment” as it was a true highlight on an album that, despite its cohesive-quality, wasn’t front-loaded with “hits”. Unusual for a “Mariah Carey” album.

Still, its accompanying video served up many an entertaining moment, packing with it enough to ensure ‘Up Out My Face’ serves as a memorable Mariah moment, regardless of chart placings (or lack-thereof). Mr Carey aka Nick Cannon took charge of directorial duties, delivering a vivid, colorful and, humorous clip. Channeling the ‘Roman’s Revenge’ artist’s recurring “Black Barbie” theme, the girls are painted as bootylicious, larger-than-life dolls whose wardrobes are as all sorts of scanty.

This chemistry the Pop stars shared on its video make their current feud all the more ironic.

In any case, Mimi and Nicki will have no other choice but to stay in each other’s faces for the next few months, as they search for the next music ‘Idol. And while we’re all for peace, love, and all that good stuff, we’ll be enjoying all the .gif moments they keep serving up each week on FOX.

#Team Mimi? #Team Nicki?

Time is indeed a healer.

Just ask LeToya Luckett who was snapped posing it up with former manager Mathew Knowles last night at the 28th annual Stellar Awards in Nashville, Tennessee.

It’s been almost thirteen years since Luckett was ousted from Destiny’s Child by Knowles (Beyonce‘s father) – who, at the time served as the group’s manager. And while much has been said by both parties since, the pair were all-smiles as they caught up backstage at the Gospel extravaganza.

With most members of the group (past and present) in each other’s good graces, how epic would it be to see of the entire clan together – if even for a pic? A boy can dream, ay…

It wouldn’t have been the first time it happened, but yesterday saw Britney Spears narrowly avoid a wardrobe malfunction during a paparazzi frenzy in LA.

Seemingly sans a bra, the ‘The Hook Up’ singer can be seen keeping her ‘girls’ together as they threatened to slip out of her pink fit. This year, fans can expect a brand new LP from the icon, marking her first since 2011’s ‘Femme Fatale’ and reported to have drawn inspiration from her Pop classic, ‘Blackout‘.
