Having exploded onto the scene in the early 00’s, Ashanti‘s “star” status boasted a “super” prefix. Indeed, under the Murder INC umbrella, the sultry stunner served up hit after undeniable hit – leading many to believe she was R&B’s head female force. And for a time, she was.
However, a plethora of problems would then plague her positioning; from the fall of her fellow INC cohorts, to legal and label drama. And, of course, there’s hurricane Beyonce.
Now, almost 4 years after her last try, Ms. Douglas is back – and with a difference. Ditching the politics and overheads of a major label, the 30 year old has gone the independent route for her new album, which is ushered in by lead single ‘The Woman You Love’. How will she fare this go round?
