With elaborate cinematic themes being a constant in the videos of ‘Poker Face’ performer Lady Gaga, fans have long wondered when they could expect the beauty’s face fronting a big screen production.

Wonder no more.

For despite shattering tour box offices globally on her current ‘Born This Way Ball’ tour, the pop diva is now ready to test her brand via the movie box office in her film debut ‘Machete Kills’.  The sequel to the 2010 ‘Spy Kids’ spinoff ‘Machete’, the Robert Rodriguez-directed film will see Gaga is set to play the character La Chameleon.

Due in 2013, the all star cast also includes Jessica Alba,  Zoe Saldana, Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen, and more.

While fans are still bobbing their heads to ‘Diary’ diva Alicia Keys‘s comeback single ‘A New Day’, they can ready themselves to be reintroduced to a new version of the cut with the inclusion of rapper 50 Cent.

As headlines have weeklong teased, the two have “joined forces” for a match made in hip hop heaven.  With Swiss Beatz on the beat, get into a clip of 50’s ‘New Day’ which is set to be the first release from his album, ‘King Immortal’ (November 2012), as well:

Perhaps in response to the industry’s increasingly disposable nature, the question of talent remains ever present – fueled by the head scratching ascent of many a contemporary act.

Unashamedly lacking any discernible gift or skill worthy of their notoriety, gone are the days where an artist did one or the other and if ‘the fan’ was lucky – both.

Instead, barring the likes of Alexandra Burke, Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Jessie J and Adele, it’s safe to say the actual ‘talent’ of most entertainers finds itself in disrepute, backed not by their skills but chart feats and in some cases…Twitter followers.

So now we ask:

Are vocalists – gifted singers – on the decline? Or are they just a little harder to find in the blur that is the Hot 100?
