Akon Covers VIBE; Admits Polygamy Claim Was a Publicity Stunt
Rapper Akon appears on the April edition of popular magazine VIBE (due to hit the stands 20th March). According to Bossip he says in the interview:

There was a big rumour about me having many wives. It started off as a joke and it got serious. And then I was just running with it to see how far it’d go. In a way, I was causing controversy, ’cause I knew certain people that wouldn’t normally attend to me, that will make them go, ‘What?’ So, in a way, it was a publicity stunt.

What was the point? It didn’t really do anything for him. I really don’t see what the hype is with this guy anyway. One minute everyone is complaining about his annoying voice and now everyone loves him. African voodoo?

Chris Brown Interview On Hot 97; Denies Nude Pics Are of Him
Teen R&B star, Chris Brown, dropped by for an interview with New Yorks Hot 97 radio station. Brown, 17, further denied that the leaked explicit pictures are of him. They are fake. I had a feeling they were not real; even if they were..oh well.

Kelly Rowland Update; New Song, Radio Interview etc
As former Destiny’s Child member, Kelly Rowland, preps her sophomore album – ‘Ms Kelly’ (due June 26th), another track rumoured to be on the album has leaked. The song is called ‘All On You’ and features rapper Lil Wayne. I’m pretty sure the version that has leaked is a demo, as only some parts sound like Kelly (a session vocalist was probably used for the demo). The track definitely is (to be) a Kelly song as Lil Wayne name drops her alot throughout the track. It’s got a real old-skool funk vibe to it; I’m feeling this one alot.

A new track by Fantasia has hit the net called ‘Said I Wouldn’t (No More)’. It’s actually a left-over track from her self-titled second album. The song, produced by Soulshock and Karlin, is real catchy and is instantly likable. Her album was one the best of last year and this would have made it all the more better. Check it out…

The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, arrived in Japan yesterday for a fan appreciation event. As with most of his rare appearances, screaming fans greeted the mega-star at the airport. Fans hoping to interact with Jackson at the event are reportedly to pay $3,500 for a few mins with him. Hmmm

Mariah Carey On the Set of ‘Tennessee’

This pic of Mariah was taken on the set of Indie film ‘Tennessee’, in which she has a supporting role.

I’m guessing she looks like ‘that’ as part of the role. Hopefully this film is better than her last film effort – Glitter. Then again, even if this flops, the backlash won’t be as bad as she is not the main character.

TMZ reports that singer Kelis was arrested early Friday morning. Check out her mugshot and the story below.

Singer Kelis was arrested early Friday morning in Miami Beach after screaming racial obscenities at two female police officers who were posing as prostitutes. Damn. She’s bossy!

The officers were working an undercover operation in South Beach, when cops say Kelis started screaming racial slurs at the women. She continued screaming and rushed toward them, and had to be restrained by friends, a police report said. According to the report, Kelis’ “actions caused people walking by to stop and form a crowd. The sidewalk was blocked by the disturbance, causing people to walk in the street and causing traffic to stop.”

Kelis, the wife of rapper Nas, was charged with two misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and for resisting arrest.

A rep for Kelis had no comment.

Fantasia On Oprah Videos; Interview & Performance

Fantasia appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show yesterday to promote her stint as Celie in the Broadway production of ‘The Colour Purple’. Tasia gave a near-flawless performance of one of the songs from the play called ‘Im Here’. It was very emotive..she even shed a few tears.

Unsure about this one. The track is ok but the video is kinda bland. It should do well, though, off the back of his last single ‘You’ which hit #1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop chart.

Lumidee (ft. Tony Sunshine) – She’s Like The Wind

Although I didn’t think I would, I’m liking this one. Maybe its because she’s rapping instead of attempting to sing (like before). Video is pretty much your standard R&B vid – nothing more, nothing less. One question though: Why does the feature artist appear more on the track than she does?

Timbaland (ft. Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake)



Not liking this one at all. The video is cheap as anything and I just can’t get into the track. Nelly’s voice- which I usually don’t mind- is really nasal and annoying. Then again, it might just be me…I can’t get past the idea that the song is supposedly taking shots at two artists I respect – Prince and Janet.

I know some of you have been waiting on this one since the solo version of this track leaked a while back. This song is scheduled to be on Beyonce’s B’Day re-release, due to drop on April 3rd. I’m liking it alot, but I kinda like the solo version better. *Be sure to check back here tomorrow, as the videos for this track and another (rumoured to be Upgrade U) are expected to drop then.*Anyway..check it out:
