American Idol, X Factor, The Voice, Sunday’s Best, Duets, Making the Band, Sing-Off, and Major & Minors are just a few of the recognizable titles of singing competitions that have graced (or disgraced) television over the past decade or so.

With its modern-day format pioneered by the FOX-aired ‘Idol’ to once record ratings (though ‘Live at the Apollo’ is the true grandfather of the genre), the last few years have seen a steadily declining interest in the singing competition themed reality show – despite reigniting interest in some of music’s top stars (see: Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, etc).

Until…NBC’s ‘The Voice’.  But, even with its winning ratings, it has yet to produce a quality star in three seasons:

Take a listen to the track, which samples De La Soul’s ‘Ring Ring Ring’ and will feature on the US version of the ladies album, after the jump…

Alexandra Burke is one busy busy girl.

The Pop powerhouse is currently hard at work on her third studio album (which will also serve as her American debut), however she is set to take brief break from recording this June to take up residency at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall.

In what appears to be a strategic move to re-position Burke as a Soulful siren, the 24 year old will pay homage to the soundtrack of  classic Diana Ross movie ‘Lady Sings The Blues’. As many will note, the 1972 original told the story and celebrated the songs of Billie Holiday.

Despite recent efforts to downplay her legacy, those who have truly followed Brand Christina Aguilera know that she is nothing short of iconic.

Rising to success via the quality of her voice and material, her ability to craft cuts that were both inspiring and radio ready saw her soar in the face of undying comparisons to Pop golden girl Britney Spears, billed as the Krystle to her Alexis.

However, the handling of her latest album ‘Lotus’ has left some fans a little frustrated with her and concerned for the future of her career.

Indeed, despite hitting stores in November, this week saw her hint that she had pulled the plug on its campaign, much to their dismay.

So, as fans of the RCA belle, TGJ gets creative and shares ideas on how we feel ‘Queentina’ can reclaim her spot atop this generation’s leading ladies.

Do not cross Kelly Clarkson. She bites back.

The Pop powerhouse has hit out at former label head Clive Davis following remarks the mogul made about working with her in his headline grabbing memoir ‘The Soundtrack Of My Life’

Though somewhat surprising given Davis’ level of seniority in the industry, the spat is not entirely shocking. For, the American Idol winner made no secret of her lack of satisfaction with Davis and the team handling her career in the immediate aftermath of her 2004 mega-seller ‘Breakaway’. Indeed, the project’s follow-up ‘My December’ saw tensions reach fever-pitch – resulting in the said album’s underperformance.

And while Clarkson’s return to prominence with 2009’s ‘All I Ever Wanted’ (and the slew of hits that followed) sent a message that any issues were now water under the bridge, the feud has seemingly been reignited.

Read Kelly’s open letter to fans (and Clive) after the jump…
