I see how sam never comments on when the men deliver terrible performances…….usher relyed HEAVILY on the backing vocals in this performance, and for the most part he mimed……was just an overall hot ass mess.

@DanBofficial, not sure what you were watching – but Usher was killing it! That’s the first time he went so hard that he look like he could give Chris Breezy a run for his money. I don’t mind any lip syncing if your set is high energy all out dance chereo. Let’s not have unrealistic expectations. Usher really does alot more dancing to entertain than the average performer.

@ Dan Bofficial, Okay you do have a point Usher was singing live before (and sounding great) and maintaining a high level performance and your right Bey does do both with ease. There are many who can’t and for the most part that should be a goal.
I think Usher, however dances much harder than anyone in the game right now (with the absence of C.B.) I don’t think it’s fair to expect alot of strong live vocals when he’s practically doing everything but back flips. He’s a little older now and he has to match all that he was capable of doing before or even step it up a level. I cut those kind of artist some slack. Even MJ wasn’t doing some of those acrobatics (don’t get me wrong he’s still the inventor of popular dance). It’s just gets to a point where you can draw the line and give some people a break.
#1 I thought he was performing on So You Think You can DANCE, not So You Think you can SING or American Idol. So, y the hell are people commenting about his vocals? Actually, he DID NOT mime. His voice was weak due to the fact that he sings live all of the time. Since he’s been performing shows (go on Youtube & search for the radio concerts shows out in LA) there is NO backing track for the verses. The only tracks that have pre-recorded vocals for OMG is the bridge and the chorus.. and even then it’s just the ‘OH’s’.
This performance, HOWEVER, was not his best vocally. But it was not because he mimed. Also, in reference to Beyonce’, she mimes as well and has lip synched many of her performances. When she was with Destiny’s Child, she lipsynched on Oprah and the first BET performance she did of Crazy In Love was actually lip synched. Michael Jackson HAS in the past, LIP SYNCHED. ALLLLL performers who have heavy choreography in their routine have at some point — LIP SYNCHED. The sake of doing it is to be able to deliver a solid DANCE routine. This does not detract the fact that they are all STILL talented singers (with the exception of Janet Jackson IMHO).
Also… you guys are idiots if you feel he has ‘let himself go since Confessions’. No. Even during Confessions, I saw him struggle with breath control and his vocal delivery was not always there. Take for instance, the BET 04 Awards when he did Yeah and likewise did Burn. BURN did not sound as good and he was noticably out of breath. The same can be said for the VMA performance he did of Yeah + Confessions in which during Confessions.. he OBVIOUSLY lip synched there. You have GOOD performances and you have BAD ones in every era.. the only difference between Confessions and this one is that his image has taken a hit. Had he not had his modest downfall (which really, his album still spawned a #1 hit, debuted at #1 and has sold 1.2 mil in the US alone — given the climate of the industry is still good), you all would more than likely still be singing his praise and its retarded.
Also would like to reiterate.. BEYONCE HAS LIP SYNCHED AS WELL, and she is not the end all be all of ‘entertainment’. Likewise, she has had AMAZING performances and HORRIBLE ones (the Grammys this year falling under the latter portion… The Grammys during her DIL era being one of the best!). That’s the nature of the industry… and it’s not fair to judge either of them by ONE performance.

That was the best i have seen usher perform in a long time. He did good. His dancing wasnt as stiff as it as been as of late.
First things first, The performance was FIYAH! This is one of the best performances of this sone that he has done thus far. His moves were sharp and right on time. His voice wasn’t the best, but we all can clearly see why. Which brings me to this….
