It looks like Kelly Rowland is going to give Diddy-Dirty Money and Ciara a run for their money when it comes to having the record for the most album push backs of all time. The ‘Commander’ singer’s new album has been delayed again, this time until November 2nd. Rowland had only recently announced that the LP would hit stores on October 26th but has now changed the date (probably because Taylor Swift had chosen that day for her new album’s release as well). {Source}
At this rate Rowland might as well reschedule the album to March 2011, that way she won’t have to worry about pushing it back any further. With all of the material released in the US already circling the drain and the buzz for the project quickly fading, it seems highly unlikely that this LP will have the major impact that she needs to establish herself as a formidable act stateside. Hey, at least she’s still getting royalty cheques from her work with Destiny’s Child. Merry Christmas.

While news of yet another pushback may come as a disappoint to some, from a strategic standpoint I’m all for it. With some of Rowland’s material resonating with audiences and some not, it makes sense for her team to see what’s catching on and revise their plans accordingly. It’s important to get things right – even if it takes a few times to do so LOL!
Above all, some are finding it oh-so-easy to forget that Kelly has yet to properly drop the project’s first US single. Yes, there has been talk of videos for ‘Grown Woman’ and ‘Rose Coloured Glasses’, however they’ve yet to be shot. So, in a nutshell it’s all still to play for.
Concluding, what I’m sure many will deem a ‘Stan Rant’, the Holiday season also provides much in the way of promotional opportunities and potentially bigger sales. My only gripe is that, if Kelly’s label-mate Nicki Minaj and team could have foreseen this already (Minaj’s album hits stores November 23rd, despite dropping two videos already), I’m not quite sure why Kelly’s didn’t.
In any case, Ms. Kelly is coming…in time.

The reason why is because she is still recording the alum they should have waited and then she had some leak tracks so she is most likely adding more songs to replace those ones that leak. same thing goes for ciara still recording her album they all should have waited until they where completely finish first, but i love the singles out right now and you never know kelly my just being recording a gem for a hit. and i would really love for here and letoya luckett to do a duet that would be epic there signature harmonies!!! but im still getting the album no matter if it comes out next year.

In my opinion what Kelly needs to do is the exact opposite of Xtina – in other words once this album is finally done go heavy on promotion in the UK / Europe – it might make for a tiring few weeks doing that and promo in the US, but that way she has a good chance of being up there in the euro charts and then staying there for a while. Remember her recent singles have done very well in Europe, especially collabs with David Guetta who is huge in the dance scene here.
BTW does anyone now if this new date is US only or for Europe as well – cause coming out at the same time as TS won’t be so much of a problem here. I will be well annoyed if I have to wait a week longer for Kelly just because of Taylor Swift – now where’s Kanye when you need him? Sorry – I don’t normally like to diss people, but that girl makes me want to stuff some socks in my ears.

Kelly’s album can keep getting pushed back because it’s not going to sell well just like ciara new album, some people are so delusional when it comes to certain artist but, talk rubbish about more successful artist.
Didn’t she go this route for Ms.Kelly? We all know how that turned out. Kelly has so many great things to say about her new management and “great new team” but so far, I don’t see her or them doing anything differently from Matthew Knowles or Columbia records. The indecisiveness of first single choices. The fact that she’s pushing and releasing music for an album she has yet to finish recording. The push backs. I feel like I’ve seen all of this before. Is it the new trend in music to make people wait forever for your album. How many push backs does she think the public will allow her before they say to hell with her and her new album. Kelly’s first two albums lack of success were all on Matthew for not handling the business correctly and Beyonce for taking ALL of the spotlight. I’ll say again, i don’t know why artists dont have there albums ready by the time they’ve dropped the first single. Kelly could’ve dropped 4 singles by then and by the time the albums released all those songs will sound old to the listener. What could you still be recording? She should have a concept/direction for the album already, any further recordings should be for a deluxe or b-sides.

I get what you mean, but I’m not sure you’re right – I would have thought that it was better for most artists to have several singles out before the album drops – this is just based on what I and my friends do which goes like this… you hear one of your favs is bringing out new stuff, they release lets say 2 singles so you buy those off iTunes or wherever as you want this new stuff NOW, right away, next the album drops so you get that too – but now you’ve got every single that can be released off that album already – unless the single is a different mix or something why would I buy it again – its the same with rereleases – why get the album again when all you need is to download the missing three or four tracks

WTF? I didn’t even know that they pushed the album back to October! This is ridiculous. Even though it’s only one week, it’s too far away! Kelly was doing quite good last month but for some reason, the hype has toned down! I don’t know what it could be… maybe because she can’t really focus on one US single! Maybe it’s because she’s not getting her paparazzi pics taken constantly. And maybe it’s because she isn’t really on any magazine covers. Many artists get that type of publicity and still fail, but at least Kelly has good music and that type of publicity could probably help with the help for her album. She’s just letting us all down. I’m really rooting for her, but it seems like she’s getting nowhere.

Why doesn’t Kelly’s label release her album in the UK & the rest of Europe now? Commander is doing very well in the UK it reached the top 10 and is still in the top 20 in England. Of course, the people that run this blog forgot to mention that!
I think Kelly has a huge following OUTSIDE of the USA so that should be their focus. For example, Kylie Minogue was never big in the USA but outside of the USA her album is selling very strongly.
An artist has to focus on the markets where they are huge and Kelly’s team need to be focusing on the international markets NOT the USA market.
It seems to me they are making R&B songs to attract the black music fans but I think that is wrong. Focus on Europe and forget about America!
