Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and Ne-Yo all have another reason to be thankful this year – their albums are all on track to exceed expectations. West’s ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ is projected to sell 525k-575k based on first day sales figures, guaranteeing it the #1 spot on next week’s Billboard 200 tally.
Furthermore, despite rumours that stated differently, Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday’ is predicted to land in the #2 spot with 375k-425k copies sold during the next 7 days. This means that it will sell just shy of the 447k that Drake’s ‘Thank Me Later’ sold in its first week.
However, the real surprise come from Ne-Yo’s ‘Libra Scale’. The record is expected to sell 115k-140k without the assistance of any hit singles. Certainly, the singer’s string of promotional appearances and the Thanksgiving sales rush have given him a much needed boost.
Another notable projection is that of Christina Aguilera’s ‘Burlesque’ soundtrack which is expected to debut with 20k-50k depending on the success of the movie this weekend. Also, Ke$ha’s ‘Cannibal’ EP is set to enter the charts with 60k-70k copies sold.

First week sales don’t matter that much. It’s much more about overall sales. I mean come on, an album that sells 500k first week and only goes on to sell 2 million vs. an album that sells 200k first week and goes on to sell 3 million, the latter is better. It is an excellent album. It showcases that female rappers can rap about more than s**, what’;s in their pants, money, clothes, and drugs. Nicki Minaj brings substance in her lyrics which was totally unexpected. Listen and look past the obvious and see the depth.
The singing for me kinds of fall flats sometimes but it never fails.
And I will be buying Kanye’s album next week for the same reason as @RiRiLoud.

I completely agree. Nicki made an epic album, except for those few songs which are more pop. But overall, I really feel like I know a lot about Nicki know, and I love that her album gave pop mainstream stuff, as well as her old Nicki-type music but remained personally beautiful. And yeah, I don’t need to contribute to Kanye’s first week sales. I can get it later (I’m RiRiLoud, by the way. I just changed the name to make it something less temporary).

New artists these days capitalize off of loads of collaborations like nicki has done, Nicki’s hype was building for over a year now and she was very visible everywhere,and white pop artists usually sell better than most other artists all around, There is hardly a white pop artist that has come out who has failed. so that’s the way it goes. Rihanna is a WW Artist….Nicki is a MASSIVE US based artist and i can say is more popular in the states then Rihanna far as Hype.
BUT WW Nicki is hardly known and wouldn’t be able to sell WW like Rihanna or have a WW Tour. Nicki Minaj can surpass Kylie Minogues US numbers but WW (all together) no ma’m because Kylie is a HUGE international artist….but isnt as popular in the states a Nicki Minaj.
