I was there last night and didn’t even notice it until I saw this video. It was an awesome show. No, she can’t sing every lyric live since she performs so much technical choreography. And this was just after she finished dancing her booty off to All For You so it is definitely understandable that she’d be a bit out of breath but kept going like a pro. Throwing the towel into the audience was a great distraction for those of us in the front.

I’m failing to see the issue. When the first verse started she sang live – the start was a bit rough but she found the key. She’s dancing and singing her heart out on this tour – I saw it myself at Radio City Music Hall in NYC a few months back and she did a terrific job.
Most live acts sing to a backing track, don’t they? I would think it would be impossible to dance and/or work the stage and keep in line with every single note.
Who cares!!! She still has sold out shows…

I saw the clip and I think the start was indeed a rough one, but Janet was professional. She also proved that she doesn’t need a backing track to sing “live”. She is capable of doing so. Janet is a different type of artist, she’s a dancer and true performer. Her show is alawys an high energy one and that’s what’s expected from her everytime she hits the stage. If you compare it to anyone else’s you’ll see that Janet is twice as dynamic than most of her peers when it comes to dancing! There have to be some slack given to her. @ Pop Rpyalty, Madonna is very well known for lip synching her entire concert shows, not backing of the tracks, but completely lypsynching, so now what. Elton John and many many others have ripped her for that saying how wrong it was of her to charge hundreds of dollars only for people to come see her lyp-synching for 2 to 3 hours. This is just one of the many reasons why Madonna was never respected or held up high in the industry, they always rewarded and in fact crowned Janet the Queen Of Pop a very long time ago. I dealt with with thousands of numbers so the could be a degree of human error in some of my figures but regardless it could not be more or less than 2-3% of the figure posted.. the following are probably the most accurate and well researched figures you will ever find for any of her tours
I shall start from her first tour to her most recent….
RHYTHM NATION WORLD TOUR 1990
Janets First ever tour saw her visit 3 continents with 117 shows in total
the average attendance for every show was 20,330 and totally attendance is estimated around 2.3million with 1.85million of that in north america alone
the average ticket price for that show was $32 the tour went on to gross $76,115,000 worldwide
janet. WORLD TOUR 1993-1995
2nd tour by janet saw her vista 4 continents 18 countries within the span of 17 months with 123 shows the most shows janet has done for any concert
average attendance for this tour was 15,196 totally attendance for this tour is around 2.5million .. the highest for any of her tours average ticket price for that tour was $33 the tour went on to gross $83,096,000 worldwide and is by far janets most successful tour
THE VELVET ROPE WORLD TOUR 1998-1999
Janets third tour supporting her 6th studio album of the same name saw her visit 5 continents and 120 shows

Yes Janet did get a record deal because she was Michael’s sister but she didn’t sell over a 100 million albums and win 5 grammy’s and many other awards just because she was Michael Jackson’s sister. Her tour is selling out everywhere she goes to the point that she’s had to add extra dates in almost every city she’s been in and she is being requested all over the world. She was originally only suppose to do 35 cities but now her tour won’t end til next year. And she’s going back in the studio later this year to work on a new CD Janet is doing just fine.

This is just sickening! The way that some of you carry on about Janet being a flop and not being relevant is only proving that you are highly delusional. First of all Janet didn’t need her brother Michael to jump start her career. The Jackson name didn’t help Jermaine, LaToya or any of his brothers in the Jackson 5 (after his departure from the group).
At one point MJ (in the 90’s) wasn’t the #1 Jackson in his family. His sister’s success started to superceded that of Michael’s work. Janet earned 5#1 singles and 10top 10 hits on the Hot 100 in the 90’s. MJ earned 2#1’s and 6 top 10’s(including scream with his sister Janet) on the Hot 100 then. Both of them sold over 50 million albums in that deacde. Also, let’s not forget during his legal troubles MJ wanted to benefit from Janet’s current success in coming together to do Scream. So, she was doing him a favor, moreso than it being the other way around.
As for Beyonce shitting on Janet… NEVER! …Nor, can Janet take a thing away from Beyonce. These ladies both hold their own!

Add in the sales off the greatest hits compilations that Madonna released and rereleased (more than any of her femle artist that would be considered her peer) and it’s totally lop sided!
My point is that Janet(not ever to be confused with – Janitor) will never be a flop! Her up close and personal tour has been selling out in every city and is scheduled to go on until next year! Remember, that Janet still OWNS the record for the biggest debut Tour EVER! Janet arrived on the scene almost 25 years ago with Control and it’s been over 20 years ago since her record breaking debut Tour!

It so funny when people pretend that Janet never was blacklisted and banned from radio. Everytime a song doesn’t chart – it doesn’t mean that there’s a decline in the quality of the music. Superbowl was a big factor in excluding Janet from being heard on mainstream radio the way she has been prior to the incident throughout her ENTIRE CAREER. Then there’s ageism (which later seem to be the cover up for what what really happening) and alot of other isms as well.
These thing still doesn’t take away from what Janet has accomplished! That being said MJ didn’t have hits in the millenium too – must we question his status and what he means to the music world? Whitney didn’t have any – must we question her worth too? Same with Prince. Even the favored Madonna was only able to obtain 5 (top 10’s) in 10 years.
