Aerosmith megastar Steven Tyler made headlines days ago when he slammed ‘American Idol’ judge Nicki Minaj on what he suggested were her ‘lack luster’ judging skills.
Confusing much of the Rapper’s fan base, considering the fact Tyler is not believed to have seen Minaj’s judging skills, his remarks sparked a fiery response from the performer on the social networking site Twitter.
Now, after being branded a racist by the star, today has seen him apologize to her.

Taking to Canada’s eTalk entertainment show, Tyler issued the following:
“I apologize if it was taken wrong, Nicki. But I am the farthest from [being a racist]. I am the last thing on this planet as far as being a racist. I don’t know where she got that out of me saying I’m not sure how she would’ve judged Bob Dylan.”
His apology arrives two months before the MC’s season on ‘Idol’ kicks off January 16th, and hours after she watched her new EP ‘The Re-Up’ force her sophomore LP, ‘Roman Reloaded’ 79 spots up the Billboard 200, in a single week.

Tyler was not asked about Nicki, he just decided to comment for no reason…also people are twisting this…she isn’t saying he was racist because of the “cornfield” comment..she was saying that because he doesn’t think Nicki would like Bob Dylan…seeing as though he does not know Nicki the only thing he has to based this off of is her being black, a rapper, and current….and that’s exactly what it is…i think Nicki used the wrong word though…”stereotypical” would have been a better choice

What he said was not a racist comment, he was one of the very few people that embraced Hip-Hop even though back then it wasn’t by mainstream media, and doesn’t he have a half-black kid too? Bob Dylan was born in a rural/country side of Minnesota I believe so what Tyler meant was she (Nicki) would have sent him back to his cornfield (means of production in this area) instead of great lengths that him and his fellow judges would have sent him. I fail to see the racism……I would get it if he said COTTON-FIELD but not cornfield. Btw, he didn’t apologize per say, he clarified his point which is he of all people (considering he is one of the most open people…) would be considered “racist”.
