Rihanna‘s set at the V Festival last night saw her chime ‘uh, uh, uh, I’m so hard’ and boy was she telling the truth.
Hard to listen to. Hard to watch. And ultimately hard to conceive how she’s risen through the ranks to achieve the status of Pop priori she enjoys today.Array
Check out Countess Fenty’s ironically stiff showing below…
Call us harsh, but when will this madness end? Jokes aside. Like, really…when?
Granted every artist can’t be a Beyonce, there remains space enough for acts to thrive in their own niche. Case, point, example, Adele. She may stand there like a loaf of bread, yet the voice, music, and ultimately sales have many an act reaching for that wig-glue. Elsewhere there are the entertainers such the Ciara‘s and Janet’s, who possess wafer-thin voices, yet can command a stage like no other. And one thinks of Rihanna…and nothing.
Some 6 years in, she’s still serving up performances as exciting as a funeral. As such, her longevity -though seemingly infallible now- really is by no means a guarantee. Just ask the infinitely more talented J.Lo. Famed for her image and column inches more over her actual talent, the smoke-filled bubble burst in the mid-00’s – something her career has struggled to recover from since.
Whether Rihanna’s story will play out the same remains to be seen. However, should she keep plodding along, serving up the crap she seems specialised in, it certainly won’t help her cause. For, it really is a sad day when footage of her whining up in the street is more entertaining than any tour she’s ever staged.
