Lauryn Hill To Release First Solo Song In Five Years…Next Month

Published: Sunday 13th Oct 2019 by Sam

Lauryn Hill looks set to end the drought of new music next month!

Full story below…

It’s been confirmed that the prolific singer/songwriter will appear on the original soundtrack for ‘Queen & Slim’ – which stars Daniel Kaluuya and is co-directed by Melina Matsoukas and Lena Waithe.

Hill’s track will serve as her first solo offering since 2014’s ‘Black Rage’ and will come on the heels of this year’s Pusha-T collaboration ‘Coming Home.’

The picture is billed as a powerful, consciousness-raising love story that confronts the staggering human toll of racism and the life-shattering price of violence. And an eclectic list of names have been assembled for its musical component.

For, joining the former Fugees star on the project are the likes of Megan Thee Stallion, Vince Staples, Lil Baby, and Blood Orange.

Speaking on the music in the Motown helmed compilation, Matsoukas said:

“I wanted the soundtrack for Queen & Slim to showcase the historical evolution of Black music, from its roots in blues and soul, to modern bounce, hip hop and R&B – much like we used to see in film soundtracks in the 90s. We partnered with Motown because of their legacy within Black music. I am honored to have worked beside Ethiopia and cannot wait for audiences to hear what each artist has created.”

The ‘Queen & Slim’ soundtrack arrives November 15th, while the film hits theaters on November 27th.

Not here for it. Lauryn disrespected her fans way too many times with her tardiness and erratic live performances (if she wasn’t cancelling altogether ?). The Miseducation was a masterpiece but she is the epitome of unprofessional in a climate where people have options of artists to choose from and there they do not have to deal. #SorrynotSorry.

I would hardly call her “prolific”!

  4. That Guud Guud October 13, 2019

Yeah no one cares about lauryn she tarnished her career she could have been a bigger artist. And I agree no one cares for these “woke” tracks. With metaphors no one can understand or relate to.

Exactly like what..the Nina Revisited album was 2015. All these hateful comments yet Lauryn is still loved, appreciated and getting her BAG regardless. Hopefully this track is both singing with rap yet with Lauryn we knew and loved. Hopefully this indicates too body of working in the mist for next year. Goes to play * The Sweetest Thing – Lauryn off of Love Jones Soundtrack

Wonder how many studio sessions she was late for. Lauryn Hill is one of the most rudest disrespectful persons you can fine. Sure her music is great The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is a materpiece but she does not care about the fans who spend their hard earn money to buy tickets to go to her concerts only to have her show up late and only perform for a few minutes or not show up at all abd she won’t stop cause people are gulliable and want to see the great Lauryn Hill.
