In somewhat of a surprising move, Kelly Rowland looks set to release BOTH ‘Commander’ and new cut ‘Shake Them Haters Off’ as the lead singles from her forthcoming album in the US. Produced by Stargate and penned by Ne-Yo, the song is quite the departure from the divafied scorcher that is ‘Commander’. Instead, it boasts an uplifting and empowering sentiment over a breezy mid-tempo beat.
Though admittedly far from my favourite cut from her new material, from a US radio standpoint, selecting this as a complimentary single to ‘Commander’ makes a lot of sense. For, in this era of music, it’s about shooting as many bullets and seeing what sticks (just ask Usher / ‘OMG’, ‘Lil’ Freak’, ‘Papers’ = hit album).

This was wonderful news. We need something uplifting, colorful and full of life. I am so sick and tired of these artist jumping on this “Dark”, “Depressing”, “Edgy” bandwagon. So hearing this kind of music will be a breath of fresh air.

I don’t think that urban/pop radio stations will play this. I’m beginning to get worried. Now don’t get me wrong…I like the song but I think people in the states want to hear her belt like on WLTO and “Commander.” This is almost too safe kinda like “Like This.” We’ll see how this turns out though. She has something to prove in the states and I don’t think this will help.

I haven’t listened to the new Kelly song, I’ll check it out later. I hope it’s better than ‘Commander’.
So at first when I heard this song on another sight last week I was like ummmm…but you know what, its catchy. While I love “Commander” I am also starting to dig this one. “Shaking Haters Off ” is a nice lil summer, sound a lil pop though. If they get an urban mix for this both markets will eat it up. To back up my earlier comments and just to let people know, I’ve bought both the Simply Deep and Ms. Kelly Albums on their release dates. I not only buy her music but I also support the urban and the dance music that she makes. The only reason why I’m addressing the urban issue is because one of her goals is to find a stronger place in the US market. I could be wrong, but I doubt that this song alone will do the trick (I like the song btw). I agree with some previous posters that the track needs more runs and etc. This is just too safe. She’s Kelly from Destiny’s Child which is a group known for powerhouse and soft vocals, and I think that America is ready for her to show her range because we all know that she can do it. “Commander and WLTO” displays what the US wants to her but in a more urban/pop sound.

@Beyonce vs World, Commander has been on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play for two weeks now. Debuted at 36 last week and jumped to 18 this week. I’ve been trying to get in touch with someone about reconsidering this “Shake the Haters Off” song as the US single.

I am a fan of Kellys. But You guys (her stans) act as though she’s this God-given gift to the music industry that we all neglect. I like the song, but unfortunately I don’t think it is a strong enough single for a domestic release. Commander is a very strong international single. Personally, I thought Kelly should release Commander and Just Whisper as international singles to display her range on the album. Commander is very much an upbeat single and dance sound while Just Whisper is a beautiful, easy listening ballad (at least from the 33 second snippet I have heard so far and I am a sucker for ballads) to showcase she vocal ability. But that is my taste. Shake Them Haters off is really good for the album only, but we’ll wait and see how it performs on the US charts.
Second, it is sickening reading childish and ignorant comments on entertainers. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion without this unleash of disgusting remarks in reference to another person’s opinion. Third, for those of you who seem to lump Americans into 1 category with this whole urban preference from US citizens, do yourself a favor and get an education. I am an American and I listen to a variety of music and do not have a stereotypical mindset that certain artists are suppose to do a particular kind of music. I actually like this song. Its very catchy. Shake Them Haters Off Kelly.
I’m not a kelly fan because I dislike Beyonce. I love Kelly because I love her music she has great songs I don’t understand why people pretend that she doesn’t make great music. I love her style the songs she sings have a lot of emotion to them she puts her heart in her music she is authentic. she makes me feel what she’s feeling. Her ballads and adlibs are out of this world I take it you’ve never her albums before.
Just to note Kelly does have haters people spend they’re everyday life talking about the way she looks they talk about her music, singing, dancing, Everything people never find nothing nice to say about her. Anytime you waste a comment on an artist you don’t like you are hating. and plenty of people make comments about Kelly rowland daily. If she was really as irrelevant and untalented as some want you to believe people wouldn’t even go as far to even comment.
A lack of interest is just that instead people show interest by flocking to her post just to comment rather a negative comment or positvie you still showed interest.
Anyway I love the song.

I’m glad this song is going to be a single. She’s very bold for making this statement and having the guts to put it in every ones face. I do wish she would have played with her voice a bit more. Hopefully if / when she performs this song she’ll jazz it up with some much needed alibs.
I agree with Joe Sullivan. This song sounds like a cross between “When Love Takes Over” and “Happy Face”. You can definately tell that Neyo penned it and I think the Stargate production is BANANAS! It’s such a happy song despite the fact that Kelly is putting the haters in their place. I love that even though she’s letting y’all have it; she’s doing it without aggression or anger. She’s bubbly and sweet. Just goes to show you what a happy place she’s in. Not even those people who have nothing but mean,shallow ad useless things to say can bring her down. I’m loving it. Can’t wait for this album.

I think KELLY’S fans are so critical, I have noticed fans from other artists such as CIARA, BEYONCE, RHIANNA, they fans support almost everything they do.
