Santa Claus might be coming to town a bit early this year because Mariah Carey is releasing a new Christmas album. The diva is reportedly preparing to drop a new collection of material which will include 6 new tracks, cover songs and a new remix of her classic ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’. The LP will hit stores on November 2nd.
Carey’s last Christmas album was released on November 1st 1994 and has sold over 12 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling Holiday records every released. {Source}
Whether this will prove to be a profitable venture is debatable but one this is certain: people just want to hear Carey sing again. With her last 2 albums comprising generally basic sing-along tracks that failed to showcase her incredible range and skill, Carey’s critics and fans are eager to hear her sing like she did on her earlier releases.
However, with Randy Jackson’s involvement on the LP and Carey herself repeatedly speaking about working with live musicians for her new material, I sense that this record will feature the long-awaited return of the vocalist that people have been missing.

It’s pretty obvoius she’s doing a Christmas album to just gtfo of IDJ. it’s alot easier for a xmas album to flop, as opposed to a regular LP.
Why only 6 new tracks? If she recorded 4 more it would be a new album instead of another re-release of her christmas album.
Mariah needs to address the vocal issues. Hoarseness and raspy in the speaking and singing voice is not good.
I am a big Mariah fan, but why is does she release a christmas record? Mariah has already done a Xmas classic.

I love Mariah, but I am beginning to go back to her old records more so often just to relive those good songs with meaning. She has good recent songs, HOWEVER, her recent music is all over the place. She lost her touch. As for the new Christmas Album, I’m disappointed. She shouldn’t go that route period. She should find a new sound, step out of her comfort zone with all these slow jams we been hearing for quite some time and burst into the scene with a new Mariah. She needs to give her fans that “WOW” factor, and she’s lost her touch. I truly love Mariah and I am a devoted fan, but stratgetically speaking if she wants to stay on top, Re-Invention wouldn’t hurt.
