As we reported here, fans of Hulu’s Zoe Kravitz-led TV adaptation of the hit 2000 romantic comedy, ‘High Fidelity,’ were highly disappointed at news the series had been canceled after just one season.
Kravitz initial statement regarding the axing, which was delivered shortly after the news went to press last week, was cordial as she took to Instagram to state:
“i wanna give a shout out to my #highfidelity family. thank you for all the love and heart you put into this show. i’m in awe of all of you. and thank you o everyone who watched, loved and supported us. ✌🏽 #breakupssuck”
The sentiment seemingly changed, however, after the 31-year-old weighed in on the event again over the weekend. See what she said below that still has tongues wagging:
Friday night (August 7), actress Tessa Thompson visited Kravitz’ Instagram to extend well wishes and say:
“I will miss you alllllllllllll so much.”
Kravitz’ reply?
“It’s cool. At least Hulu has a ton of other shows starring women of color we can watch. Oh wait.”
The criticism isn’t the first time Hulu’s been under fire for a lack of diversity. While it’s noted the streaming giant does have a section for films and television shows called ‘Black Stories,’ few of the titles are Hulu originals.
As of time reported, they have not responded to Kravitz’ insinuation.

Yes, they can do better, but don’t lash out at Hulu when they gave you the chance that no one else did. You can’t expect longevity for a TV series that falls under the unoriginal remake/rehash/sequel/prequel/spin-off category. My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Minority Report and Terminator all had shows that failed with more fans than High Fidelity. It just didn’t catch on.
Oh boo hoo bishhh, next time keep Michael Jackson’s name out of your mouth and the karma gods won’t pay you another visit. Have a seat.
Show sucked
I understand her argument but sweetie…let’s be honest here. Absolutely no one was interested in your show and Hulu would take an incredible financial lost trying to please the 100 who only binged watch after the last episode. Don’t try to bring up the diversity argument just because the GP were simply not interested. Dust yourself off and move on, unless you’re simply not that talented 🤷🏾♂️.
I’m all for representation but if you want representation you need to make sure the TV shows representing are actually GOOD. you can’t just cry about how there aren’t more diverse shows, then expect them to make a bunch just for the sake of diversity even if they’re boring. They still have to be good tv to stay alive. No one wants to watch garbage TV just because there is a black female lead. Maybe have better writing like in Dear White People and the show will survive.
