This week we celebrated both the birthday of music Queen, Beyoncé, as well the anniversary of her iconic sophomore solo set, ‘B’Day.’
Today’s From The Vault pick is the album’s second offering, the fiery, edgy, and fierce ‘Ring The Alarm.’
After the success of the LP’s first single ‘Deja Vu’, the pressure was on for Bey to keep the momentum going. She opted for the Swizz Beatz-produced, Sean Garrett-penned ‘Alarm’ which went on to chart at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop tallies.
The tale of a threatened woman letting her love interest know that, no matter what, she won’t ever let him start a new relationship with another woman, it drove the net crazy back in 2006 and had everybody trying to decipher if the lyrics were fictions or facts.
Sophie Muller directed the track’s video. The artist can be seen in an interrogation room, loosely reenacting that infamous scene from the movie ‘Basic Instinct’ and singing the track in a beach house. Elsewhere, she is intercepted by masked guards when trying to escape from a hangar.
Its debut performance was at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards where her and her army of dancers took the stage in matching trench coats.
At the time of its release, ‘B’Day’ was polarizing as it showed a brand new side of the entertainer, a darker and grittier side. Also, the aggression she usually reserved for the stage was omnipresent throughout the project’s lyrics and visuals. With this album, the “Beyonce” that the world at large knows and loves – one who shifts between glamorous and edgy – was born, and this is why it is one of the most important moments of her career.
14 years later, the album sounds as instant and undeniable as ever, and is filled with many a classic jam, whether it was a chart topper or not.
Y’all obsession is too much. If she wasn’t so forced down everybody throat, she might actually sell some albums.
💀💀💀
Hmmm…for a so called “ghetto blog,” you sure do post here quite quickly and frequently. Why is that, Q****. Could it be that a.) you’re ghetto as hell too, or b) you’re just full of shīt?? I personally believe it’s the latter but perhaps there’s a third option: your white side doesn’t know your black side is a resident racist troll on an urban blog run and maintained by people of color 🧐🤨
“Everyone has a right to their opinion on music and artists” – Shayla Peasant
This should apply to the authors on this blog too Lmao yeeeeessss Beyoncé
Sam must really like this song . Didn’t we have a recent enough post on Ring the Alarm’s chart placement??? While the Song DID age well it’s not necessarily a good song but I see why it was worthy as a 2nd single tho the video was A MESS! Cringeworthy even.
Wasn’t this the song written about Rihanna because she was jealous once Rihanna started popping off? 🤣 Old has been

One of her many flop singles. This was a horrible song.
U called a top 20 hit a flop? Are u dumb?????? I’m pretty sure Rihanna had more flop songs than Queen B.
Rihallah also has more no 1 hits than Flopyonce lololololol
NOW YOU KNOW THAT IS A LIE HUN! RIHANNA HAS MORE TOP 10’S AND TOP 20’S AND MORE NUMBER 1’S THAN BEYONCE.

Comments above – you clicked the story and commented so they are still getting paid at the end of the day, joke is on you.
ANYWHO
Sophie Muller is a national treasure, she did great work with many artists and Beyonce is no different. This song and video shocked me however, it was a direct shot at another woman, which only fueled the Rihanna rumors. I didn’t expect this would be her second single, but I think many people’s problem with B-Day stemmed from her single roll outs. I wouldn’t have put this song out personally, but I feel like she had something important to say to J at the time lol. Also, “Irreplaceable” really did save that era.
Beyonce fan site.
Ahhh yes the performance she copied the look from hair to wardrobe from Britney’s 2003 American music awards performance. Literally the same costume hair and entrance.
She steal from errrrrbody chile! #FACTS 🤣🤣🤣
Yes, but choreography was straight Janet’s RN routine from her HBO special.
Exactly
Flop song by a flop thieving “artist“ who has given birth to flop children.
Flop children?? You need f****** help…Beyoncé has you that bothered you need to see a therapist all the evil negativity you keep spewing is why you’re broke with no future…it’s your karma
To me B’Day was her last good album
I AGREE BDAY WAS HER LAST GOOD CD. HER OTHER ALBUMS AFTER THAT HAD LIKE 3 OR 4 GOOD SONGS AND THE REST MADE YOU SKIP HER SONGS
little replay value.
