Rebecca Ferguson’s ‘Heaven’ Certified Platinum

Published: Monday 2nd Jan 2012 by David

In many respects, not winning a televised talent show is no longer the death sentence it used to be.

Take X Factor 2010 alum Rebecca Ferguson, who despite coming second to that year’s winner Matt Cardle has gone onto become one of the highest acts the show has spawned to date.

Yes, in what will definitely put smiles on the faces of her growing fan base, her debut album ‘Heaven‘ has been certified Platinum the UK.

More below…

Coming it at #9 on this week’s UK Album chart, the LP was certified Gold in it’s first week of release for sales of 128,000 copies and after two weeks of release received Platinum certification in it’s second week of release for over 300,000 copies shipped in the country.

Well done Rebecca!

Here’s to hoping that the success of ‘Heaven’ will encourage SYCO to give their acts even more time and freedom to record music that truly inspires them.

For it is becoming increasingly that ‘letting the music speak for itself’ has worked in Ferguson’s favor and should give the US leg of her label an even greater incentive to push both she and the project to markets who are slowly but surely beginning to embrace the Adult Contemporary genre again.

It’s a shame Kelly couldn’t have got this kind of success but that’s why she’s sold because her music seems more honest and credible. TEAM KELLY TAKE NOTE!!! To go Platinum in 3 weeks is astonishing considering No-one really remembered her until she reappeared on X-Factor. I smell an Adele!!!

More honest, open and inspiring music. She even blasted Rihanna, something Kelly would never do. She just smiles and says, “I think everyone’s so talented!”

#Epicfail. These lame brit reality acts never make big it in the US. Leona was an anomaly. She’s a has been already after only 2 cd’s. Simon Cowell is a nutcase. Always thinking whatever works across the pond muat work stateside. Loser… his ideas always sink when crossing that pond. Where is Rebecca Ferguson’s so-called huge US debut??? Exactly… never happened. Move on…

Ooops, meant Alexandra Burke… has been already. Never make it stateside. What, it’s been 3 yrs for her and nothing.

So happy for her. She deserves the success, she’s talented and her album worth the listen. Her music is honest and It’s amazing she’s already platinum after only 3 weeks. Wish her the very best.

Oh please selling 300+k in 2 weeks at christmas isn’t that big a deal but try doing it week on week in January/February like Adele did last year no wonder she’s shipped 4.2 million in the UK and sold 3.77 million there plus about 200k in Ireland 5.7 million in the US 1,000,000 in germany 880k in Canada 800k in France 735k in austrailia and so on to have sold 17.5 million in less than a year worldwide 3:1 over Lady Gaga’s Born This Way

people need to realise 300,000 is alot of albums considering the UK has a population of over 60 million. the USA has a population of over 300 million so platinum is 1 million there which makes sense. US people need to calm down, we have Adele(highest selling artist of 2011), Rebecca Ferguson, Amy winehouse(RIP) emeli sande, our music scene is so much better. you can stick to your gimmick acts like gaga.

I’m so happy for her! I got her album & love it – honest lyrics, unique vocal style and CLASSY. I hope her label handles her U.S. roll out smartly because with the proper promo I believe she will build a fanbase here in the states.

beyknight: because simon cowell only sees leona. alex had the potential and radio friendly hits but simon didnt see that. he only sees precious leona. and now hes seeing sense, more acts in the US means US x factor becomes a success. mans a r*****. SMH at his mistake with alexandra, damn he doesnt even care, it was only Beyonce that got alex a US contract. and simon shipped leona out to clive davis and all his US cronies. SMDH.

WOOT WOOT REBECCAAAAAA!! Well done Gurl. :p

ive heard the album and its pretty darn good and with her writing most of the songs herself she is likely to get more dough. so good on her.

Give it time for Rebecca to establish herself over in the UK and then hopefully she’ll get signed to a good US label to get her music out to the americans.

happy shes on the right road. i was sad my 60 votes didnt get her the win last year but sounds like it was better off for her. 😀
