tamar-braxton-upscale

With Tamar Braxton‘s career on an upward swing, the star fittingly covers the July 2014 issue of Upscale Magazine.

The singer, talk show host, and reality TV maven is currently prepping a return to the small screen with a slew of shows.

First up is WE tv’s ‘Braxton Family Values’, which makes its comeback in August. A month later, Ms. She, Me, Her will re-join her co-anchors on FOX‘s new daytime talker ‘The Real’ – which, after a test season last Summer, is back for a full season run on September 15th. Later this year, ‘Tamar & Vince’ also makes a return – with this season having a heavy focus on the recording of the follow-up to Braxton’s debut album ‘In Love & War’.

Needless to say, it’s busy times for this Braxton.

mariah-carey-sales-elusive

As chart disasters go, few come as high-profile as Mariah Carey‘s latest album ‘Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse’.

An apt title, the LP has experienced elusive sales – and that’s putting it politely.

Debuting with career low numbers in the US (see: 58k), the set also tanked in the UK where it premiered at #14 with sales of 6500.

Recent trend among the singer’s fan-base has been to blame her manager, friend, and longtime collaborator Jermaine Dupri – who this week clapped-back at the critique.

During a stop at The Breakfast Club yesterday, where he visited to promote R&B quad Jagged Edge, the hitmaker couldn’t escape the Mimi questions and was flat-out asked about the project’s appalling numbers.

Find out what he had to say after the jump, where TGJ’s weigh-in on the madness also awaits…

While her music videos and live performances haven’t always been up to par, Nicki Minaj has never had any problems scoring acclaim for her lyrical prowess, celebrated for penning the music that took her from Hip Hop upstart to world renown megastar.

Unfortunately, not all of her contemporaries can boast of such a feat, oft ridiculed behind industry doors for enlisting ghost writers to create material they go on to pass off as their own work, dipping into their budgets to pay said writers for their ideas…and silence.

This, as fans of Minaj learned, hasn’t gone unnoticed by the rapper, who took subtle aim at her lyric-deficient rivals during a ‘Ustream‘ session launched to promote her latest single ‘Pills N Potions.

What she had to say on the matter?

Lana-Del-Rey-Ultraviolence-ThatGrapeJuice

Though many a publicist would have the world believe otherwise, $0.99 singles have and will never hold more weight than $9.99 albums.

Alas, with many a ‘Hot 100′ regular struggling to move the albums their #1 singles are pulled from, record labels oft reach for the stars when window dressing the commercial failures of their microwave Pop purveyors.

Fortunately for ‘Interscope‘, they’ll be faced with no such task when handling Lana Del Rey’s ‘Ultraviolence‘, now on course to rock the ‘Billboard 200′ with an opening week figure set to put many a Pop princess to shame!
