Ciara Covers Billboard Magazine R&B star Ciara features on the cover of the latest issue of Billboard magazine. Liking the look; she’s switched things up a bit.
Ciara’s new three-disc ‘musical journey’ ‘Fantasy Ride’ is set to hit stores in the coming months.

What do you think of the cover?

Ciara - 'High Price' (Full)Having posted a snippet of Ciara’s brand new single ‘High Price’ a few months, the full version (well kinda) of the track has surfaced and it’s a banger. Initially somewhat pessimistic about Ciara’s choice of vocal delivery on the cut, I’m really feeling the track after hearing it in its entirety – the vocals, the gritty production, Ludacris’ 32 bars, everything! ‘High Price’ is the first track to be lifted off the 22 year old’s forthcoming three disc LP ‘Fantasy Ride’.

Ciara – So Hard

As I’ve detailed in the past, Ciara’s 2006 sophomore effort ‘The Evolution’ was indeed pretty solid, yet offered little in the way of what its title declared – evolution (from her first LP). That said, one of the album’s definite standout cuts was the Bryan Michael-Cox produced ‘So Hard’. Reminiscent of Cox’s now trademark ‘Crunk Ballad’ sound, the track IMO is right up there with the brilliance that is ‘Promise’. What Ciara lacks in vocal prowess, is compensated by the sheer emotion the song evokes. In simpler terms (lol), you both feel and believe what she’s singing. A must listen.

Ne-Yo – Make It Work

Lifted from Ne-Yo’s 2007 effort ‘Because of You’, ‘Make It Work’ is all that we have to expect from a top notch ‘Ne-Yo’ track. Laced with lush harmonies and a killer hook, the song IMO would have made for a great single; something I’m pretty perplexed didn’t occur, considering it really was a smash hit just waiting to happen.

Sugababes – Freak Like Me

Undeniably the UK’s biggest and most talented girl group (I did say ‘talented’, so no Girls Aloud included lol), the Sugababes were able to secure such a position no doubt in part to the success of their 2002 hit ‘Freak Like Me’. A more edgier, rock-tinged (yet still Urban) spin on the Adina Howard classic, the track served as the ladies first #1 and remained at the top for four straight weeks. Good stuff.

Listen: Freak Like Me

Timbaland – Fantasy (ft. Money)

Following Timbaland’s return to prominence in 2006 as a producer on major releases by the likes of Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake, the hit-maker also asserted his place in the contemporary industry with the release of his 2007 LP ‘Shock Value’. Featuring many a collabo, it was ‘Fantasy’, sung by the relatively unknown Universal/Blackground artist Money, that was one of my personal favourites from the slightly overrated album. With its sensual, whimsical sound, the track is a slickly produced and solidly performed cut.

Your thoughts: Hit(s) or Miss(es)?

Our good friends over at Rap-up.com recently caught up with hit-maker Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins and quizzed him on his contribution to two of the year’s most anticipated releases – Beyonce and Ciara’s forthcoming albums. Check out the pretty insightful mini-interview below:

I’ve made no secret of the fact that I kinda felt a little short-changed with ‘B’ Day’, so I’m interested to see what Beyonce’s new record will be serving up; as with all her releases, a new Beyonce LP is an event in itself, so roll on November lol. More over though (at this point), after Tuesday’s night’s BET Awards, I’m amped for Ciara’s triple-disc ‘Fantasy Ride’; I really feel this will be her legit ‘evolution’ as opposed to to the ‘.5’ treatment her last album delivered.

So in view of that…

Whose album are you most looking forward to: Beyonce or Ciara?

The video for Nelly’s latest single ‘Stepped On My J’s (ft. Jermaine Dupri & Ciara)’ premiered on BET just a few short hours ago. Though I think the video is pretty decent, especially considering how poor the song is(IMO), Ciara’s showing was definitely the highlight of the clip. Good stuff.

What do you think of the video?

Ciara - 'Supernatural'Some of you may remember that a snippet of this new Ciara track ‘Supernatural’ was posted back in April. The full version of the sensually smooth R&B cut, said to be the first single from her three-disc LP ‘Fantasy Ride’ has recently surfaced. Though I’m liking the track a little more after hearing it in its entirety, I still think it should be no more than album cut. If it’s a slower single she’s looking for, I’m hoping she channels something along the lines of ‘Promise’ or ‘So Hard’ from her last record..

Ciara - 'Click' Ciara’s contribution to the ‘Sex & The City’ soundtrack, a track titled ‘Click’, has surfaced. Written by Rico Love and produced by Salaam Remi, the whimsical cut is a solid effort. My only gripe is that the song sounds near identical to Fergie’s hit ‘Glamorous’ – to the point where it’s unavoidably obvious. I had to double check that it wasn’t that song’s producer Polow Da Don recycling beats again (lol). Still, a pretty good track all the same.

Ciara Gets Conceptual On 'Fantasy Ride'Billboard.com have revealed some very interesting details about Ciara forthcoming studio album ‘Fantasy Ride’:

R&B singer Ciara has slated her third album, “Fantasy Ride,” for a September release via Jive. Rather than one standard CD, the music will be spread across three separately packaged discs, bundled together, each with five to six songs catering to a different theme.

The first disc is called “Groove City” and will contain sensual songs like “Promise,” while the second disc is called “Crunktown” and includes tracks akin to Ciara’s 2004 introductory single, “Goodies.” Finally, the up-tempo “Kingdom of Dance” will showcase Ciara’s house-leaning, freestyle-tinged cuts.

Producer Tricky Stewart, who crafted Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” is co-executive-producing the project along with Ciara. Danja is helming both “Crunktown” and “Kingdom of Dance,” while “Groove City” is led by Tricky and Jasper.

An official single will drop in June, according to the label.

Now that’s what I’m talking about! Despite Ciara being immensely talented, I oft wonder how she’d be able to take it to the next level artistically and leave a lasting impression Ala the Beyonce’s and co etc. This, her latest venture, really seems to be her real ‘evolution’.

Nelly - 'Stepped On My J's' (ft. JD & Ciara) With the release of Nelly’s ‘Brass Knuckles’ fast approaching, a new cut from the set has surfaced. ‘Stepped On My J’s’, which features Jermaine Dupri and R&B star Ciara, sees the St. Louis native re-embrace the gritty, yet radio friendly sound that made his debut so great. I must say, I’m really liking this one. ‘Brass Knuckles’ hits stores June 24th.

Ciara - 'High Price' (ft. Ludacris) (Snippet)A snippet of ‘High Price’ (ft. Ludacris), the first single to be released from Ciara’s 3rd studio album ‘Fantasy Ride’ (tentatively slated for a September release) has surfaced. I’ll reserve my judgement until I hear the track in its entirety. I know that I’m definitely on the fence about the ‘voice’ she’s singing in.

Ciara - 'Supernatural' (Snippet) With R&B star Ciara hard at work on her third studio album tentatively titled ‘Fantasy Ride’, a snippet of one of the supposedly featured track has surfaced. Though the smooth mid-tempo ‘Supernatural’ isn’t a bad effort, it certainly leaves a lot to be desired. It’ll be interesting to see what the album, due out in the Autumn, will have on offer – material better than this I should hope.
