Just two weeks after nabbing a ratings winner with Kelly Rowland‘s ‘Merry Liddle Christmas,’ Lifetime struck TV gold again with another Platinum-selling R&B diva:  Ashanti.

As we reported here, the Grammy winner played double duty as she not only led the cast of ‘A Christmas Winter Song’ – one of the channel’s whopping 30 holiday films this season – but was also credited as a producer. Also starring Stan Shaw, Sashani Nichole, and many other familiar faces, ‘Song’ – which premiered on the women’s network on December 14 – went to ratings battle against some of cable’s top rated news, sports, and reality programming.

‘Commander’ singer Kelly Rowland commanded yet another solid viewing audience for Lifetime, this time courtesy of her starring role in the holiday film, ‘Merry Liddle Christmas.’

Airing last Saturday, the movie – loosely based on a true story from one of the Grammy-winner’s past Christmas hosting experiences gone wrong – tells the story of a successful single tech entrepreneur [portrayed by Rowland] who hosts her dysfunctional family in her new home over the holiday.

Executive produced by Kelly and husband Tim Weatherspoon, ‘Christmas’ went to ratings battle against the likes of highly anticipated Hallmark holiday films, “must see” college football, and more on November 30.

The first two hour block of Lifetime’s controversial three-part documentary, ‘Surviving R. Kelly,’ made its premiere last night despite reports its key subject, the Grammy-winning R. Kelly, was threatening a lawsuit if it aired (click here to read more on that).

Highlighting Kelly’s alleged 30-year+ history with the sexual abuse of young girls, the docuseries called on a number of testimonies from people in the singer’s circle including relatives, former business partners, and, of course, the victims themselves.  Setting Twitter alight, the hashtag #SurvivingRKelly dominated the social media platform as the night’s most trending topic – a conversation that spilled over into the next morning (January 4).

Now, preliminary ratings figures reveal people did more than talk, but also tuned into the series in droves! Joining rank among the network’s most watched programs EVER, look for details inside:

As reported here, after scoring ratings wins for Lifetime courtesy of her biopic ‘Unbreak My Heart’ and the biographical film, ‘Faith Under Fire,’ R&B veteran Toni Braxton flexed her acting muscle once more for the network via the November 24th-aired holiday film, ‘Every Day Is Christmas.’

Sharing the screen with the likes of Michael Jai White, sister Towanda Braxton, and more, the film – inspired by Charles Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol,” saw the diva portray a shrewd businesswoman whose other worldly experiences force her to embrace the spirit of the season.

While ratings reports were delayed due to Thanksgiving, refreshed news indicates Toni’s faithful fans – affectionately called #ToniTigers, helped the songstress claw her way to yet another ratings winner for the network.  Details inside:

In 2012 Queen Latifah and Jill Scott joined forces for Lifetime’s remake of the iconic 1980s film, ‘Steel Magnolias,’ and scored record ratings for the network in the process.  When the Grammy winners reunited for ‘Flint’ – a heart-tugging, dramatized look at the ongoing water crisis in Flint, Michigan – the response didn’t exactly match the fanfare of their first go round.

It may have earned a raised eyebrow or two from fans and family upon its announcement, but if ratings are anything to judge by,  it appears a number of those claiming to be opposed to Lifetime’s unauthorized biographical film of King of Pop Michael Jackson still found time to tune in.

The made-for-TV-movie, titled ‘Searching for Neverland,’ aired on Memorial Day (May 29th) and was the highest rated scripted programming for its timeslot.  In fact, for its timeslot, it came in second overall – blocked from the top spot by WWE Entertainment.

After producing a string of hit biopics on popular female singers (see:  Aaliyah, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, etc.), many forecasted Lifetime’s latest effort – a film about the life and times of current pop superstar Britney Spears – would be a homerun.  Well, that was the case until they saw the almost parodic casting and shambolic trailer.

In addition, the pop princess the unauthorized bio was designed to depict gave the movie’s production a royal thumbs down.  The aforementioned (and the unforgiving Twitter slamming it suffered) all added to ‘Britney Ever After’ [which aired February 18th] being a ratings miss for the women’s network.
